Chapter 437 Restless
He had already gotten a crush on someone.
But if Snowy found out he slept with Shirley, would she be mad, sad, or just plain pissed?
Herman's mood took a nosedive.
Why the heck did he sleep with Shirley?
Matthew noticed Herman's face getting darker and asked, "What's up?"
Herman, all jittery, said, "I like someone else, and now I can't explain last night's hookup.”
Matthew asked, "Don't you like Shirley?”
Herman looked shocked. "What? When did you get that idea? No way I like her!”
Matthew, in a serious tone, said, "If you don't like her, why are you always around her?”
Herman, getting worked up, said, "You told me to keep her busy! She's always trying to get Mary to divorce you. Don't deny it, Matthew!”
Matthew asked, "So, did you keep her busy?”
Herman went silent.
No matter what he did, Shirley always managed to convince Mary to think about divorce.
Shirley really couldn't stand Matthew.
Herman sighed, "Why are you so hard to like?”
Matthew shot him a cold look. "You wanna die?”
Herman snapped back, "The more you act like this, the less Mary will like you. Women dig guys who are gentle and thoughtful. You're always so cold; who'd like that?”
Should he be more gentle and thoughtful like before?
Matthew lowered his eyes, took a sip from his glass, and stayed quiet for a while.
Herman drank too, feeling all kinds of down.
Herman worried Shirley would cling to him. What if she messed things up between him and Snowy?
Shirley sneezed a bunch of times.
Mary handed her a glass of water, "Did you catch a cold?”
Shirley shook her head. "Nah, probably some jerk talking smack about me.”
Mary couldn't help but laugh, "Wash your hands; dinner's almost ready.”
"Got it!” Shirley took a sip of water and went to wash her hands.
When she came back, the food was already on the table.
Mary sat nearby and noticed the hickeys all over Shirley. She hesitated but then said, "Maybe you should put on a jacket.”
Shirley refused, "Nope.”
Mary went quiet. She thought to herself, 'Alright then, whatever.'
Shirley took a bite and her eyes lit up. "This is amazing, it's like a flavor explosion!”
Mary laughed, "My cooking has magical powers?”
Shirley nodded seriously. "I'm not kidding. I've eaten at tons of places, and your food is the best. If you and Matthew split, you should move to a small town and open a restaurant. It'd be a hit!”
Mary nodded. "Alright, I'll think about it.”
Shirley laughed and dug in!
Just then, Mary's phone rang. She checked it and her eyes lit up. "Hello, Robert!”
Robert's cheerful voice came through, "Long time no see. Can you come out? I just got back today.”
Mary replied, "I'm already out. Did you get to Lindwood City?”
Robert said, "Yeah, where are you? I'll come to you.”
Mary looked at Shirley, who nodded.
Mary replied, "I'm at Shirley's place. I'll send you the location. Your timing is perfect.”
Robert asked, "What do you mean?”
Mary explained, "I just finished cooking.”
