Chapter 490 As Long As You Like It

Mary shot back with a sarcastic tone, "Hilarious."

Matthew smirked, "As long as you're entertained."

Mary rolled her eyes, yanked her arm away, and headed straight for the entrance.

Matthew, tall and unbothered, followed her effortlessly, like he was just out for a casual stroll.

Mary thought, 'So what if you have long legs?'

People around them were a bit taken aback. Paul turned to Michael and asked, "Michael, what's going on here?"

Michael ignored the question and pointed at a part of the blueprint, "What's this area?"

Paul immediately launched into an explanation.

With that, no one paid any more attention to Matthew and Mary.

Outside the construction site, Mary made her way to the subway station.

Matthew trailed behind, his steady footsteps echoing in her ears, each step feeling heavier on her heart.

Mary felt a surge of irritation.

They were divorced, so why was he still hanging around?

She spun around, "What do you want?"

Matthew, hands in his coat pockets, looking all cool and composed, smiled faintly, "Just taking the subway."

Mary gave him a puzzled look, then turned and headed for the bus stop.

But those footsteps kept following her.

She glanced back, "Mr. Montagu, you planning to take the bus too?"

Matthew raised an eyebrow, "Why not? Can't I?"

Mary scoffed and ignored him.

If he wanted to follow, let him. The bus was full of all sorts of people; if he didn't mind, neither did she.

This was the suburbs, surrounded by construction sites. Most of the bus passengers were construction workers.

It was also around noon, and many workers were taking the bus to nearby streets for lunch.

When Mary got on the bus, there were no seats left.

Matthew followed, his tall frame taking up space. He stood right next to Mary, holding the handrail, his handsome face showing no signs of discomfort.

Mary glanced at him and accidentally locked eyes with his deep gaze, which seemed to sparkle with starlight. Her gaze felt a sudden, intense heat, making her look away in a fluster.

More people crammed onto the bus, and Matthew ended up standing behind Mary, his firm chest pressed against her back, his fresh scent surrounding her.

Mary's back stiffened.

Suddenly, the bus jolted, causing her to lose her balance. Her waist tightened.

Matthew caught her, pulling her into his arms, his deep voice whispering in her ear, "Lean on me, you'll be steady."

Mary didn't want to lean on him.

She tried to keep her distance.

But his hand stayed on her waist, his strong presence enveloping her.

This feeling was off. It felt like they hadn't divorced.

Mary's face grew cold.

Thankfully, they soon got off the bus.

She took a few steps, then spun around, her eyes cold, "Matthew, what do you want?"

Matthew pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and squinted, "Just wondering how much interest I still have in you. If you keep giving me the cold shoulder, will I stop liking you?"
