Chapter 124 What Else Is There to Consider?
Mary glanced at Shirley. "What I want is for you to take back what you said."
Shirley tugged on Mary's arm, pleading, "Mary, pretty please..."
Mary sighed, giving in. "Alright, fine."
Shirley lit up and turned to Robert. "When does the show start?"
Robert smiled. "No rush. I'll come get you in a bit. Just enjoy yourselves for now." He walked away.
Shirley and Mary settled into the best booth, and soon a waiter brought over drinks and a fruit platter.
Mary swirled her wine, staring at the colorful liquid. "I'm starting to regret this."
With all her problems, dragging Robert into it seemed like a bad move. What should she do?
Shirley reassured her, "Mary, don't worry. It's just a dance. When was the last time you danced?"
Mary sighed. "It's been a while."
Shirley grinned. "Think of it as doing me a favor."
Mary gave her a helpless look. "Too late for regrets now."
Shirley smiled, raising her glass to clink with Mary's.
As time passed, the bar got livelier. When a few guys came down from the stage, the lights dimmed.
Suddenly, someone grabbed Mary's wrist. She jumped. "Who is it?"
"It's me," Robert said with a smile, leading her onto the stage.
"Mary, just focus on dancing." He placed a hand on her waist.
Mary tensed for a moment but then relaxed. How long had it been since she danced?
She'd been so busy, giving up her hobbies. With Matthew causing her all sorts of trouble, what else did she have to worry about?
A flash of Matthew protecting Laura crossed her mind, causing a pang in her heart. But she quickly pulled herself together, a smile appearing on her face.
"Okay," she agreed.
Soon after, the music started playing. Mary's eyes lit up. It was a song she knew well—she remembered it!
When Robert hit the dance floor, the crowd went wild, especially the girls, whose screams filled the air!
The melody was fast-paced, and Mary quickly matched Robert's steps, even trying to outshine him a bit.
Just then, a few people walked in through the door.
Herman, hands in his pockets, said, "Matthew, it's been two years since you showed up in places like this. What's so good at home?"
Matthew walked past him with a cold expression, ignoring his words.
Herman looked around the bustling bar. "This place is amazing. Those two dancers are really good, especially the way the guy looks at the girl—so intense."
Matthew's gaze drifted to the stage, and when he saw the dancers, his expression darkened.
As the song reached its final beat, Robert held Mary's waist, and she threw her head back, her arm hooking around Robert's neck. They locked eyes, their emotions unreadable.
"Wow!" The audience erupted in enthusiastic cheers.
Herman patted Matthew's arm. "They're really good. What do you think about signing them? They'll be stars in no time."
But when he turned to Matthew, he was met with an extremely grim expression.
