Chapter 255 What Is Her Life Worth?

Donovan's face went stiff as he stared at Matthew. "Matthew, are you really going through with this? Have you forgotten what happened back then?"

Donovan's usual calm was replaced by a serious, intense vibe.

Matthew's sharp features stayed emotionless as he replied coldly, "Of course I remember. If it weren't for that incident, you wouldn't have gotten off so easily later."

Donovan's eyes darkened instantly.

He tried to use the past against Matthew, and Matthew did the same.

Donovan thought, 'Alright then! The younger generation is really something!'

Taking a deep breath, Donovan said, "Matthew, it's my fault for not raising my daughter right. I apologize to you and this young lady. I own a diamond mine. I'll transfer it to you tomorrow. How does that sound?"

He'd rather embarrass himself and give up a diamond mine than let Jenny face punishment, showing how much he spoiled her.

Jenny's arrogance came from her father's unconditional indulgence.

Donovan's sincerity was clear.

Mary thought, 'Matthew had no reason to refuse.'

Sure enough, Matthew looked at Donovan and said, "Since you put it that way, I won't say more. But I hope this doesn't happen again. How many diamond mines do you have to give away?"

Donovan was clearly displeased but forced himself to say, "Don't worry, I'll make sure to teach that brat a lesson when we get back."

Matthew said, "I'm tired. I'm heading back to the hotel."

Donovan replied, "Take care."

They left the hospital separately.

In the car, Mary stayed silent.

Even though she expected it, she still felt a twinge of sadness.

What was her life worth compared to interests?

Seeing her quiet, Matthew's eyes darkened a bit. He said, "Mary, I'm in pain."

Mary's long eyelashes fluttered as she replied, "Then talk less and rest more."

Matthew frowned, thinking, 'Why is she so cold to me? She wasn't like this with David!'

The suffocating feeling in Matthew's chest returned, and his handsome face turned cold.

At the Opulent Oasis Hotel, Matthew got out and walked straight inside.

Mary watched his back, thinking about David's unresolved issue, and quickly followed.

In the elevator, she asked, "Matthew, can David's matter be resolved now?"

As soon as she spoke, a cold aura surrounded Matthew, making the elevator feel icy.

Mary noticed and felt a bit confused.

She wondered, 'What's wrong with Matthew now?'

Matthew stayed silent, heading straight to the suite. At the door, he stopped.

Mary looked at him, puzzled. "What's wrong?"

Matthew coldly said, "I'm injured and can't swipe the card."

Mary glanced at his left arm. As she took out the room card, she mumbled, "It's not like your right hand is injured..."

Opening the door, Matthew walked in. Mary followed, closing the door behind her. But the next second, she was pressed against the door, surrounded by Matthew's fresh scent.

Matthew pressed against her back!
