Chapter 182 She's Gone Again
Mary gave him a small smile. "Just checking if you needed to go to the hospital."
Robert shook his head. "No need."
Mary picked up her utensils. "Alright, let's eat."
She started eating, even though she wasn't really hungry. Skipping a meal wasn't an option with so much work waiting.
Robert watched her but didn't say anything.
After the meal, Mary went to pay the bill but found out it was already covered.
She hesitated for a sec and looked at Robert. "Didn't we agree I'd treat you?"
Robert shrugged. "Come on, No way I'm letting you foot the bill when we go out."
Mary blinked. "So, does that mean more meals together?"
Robert's mouth twitched. "Sure."
Mary smiled and sat back down.
Robert waved his phone. "The video was emailed to you."
Mary opened it immediately. The moment she caught sight of the girl who had bumped into her messing with the food, her face turned serious.
Mary mused, 'Is someone actually trying to poison Matthew to set me up?'
Robert said, "You have got the proof now. Either call the police or give it to Matthew. Don't go playing detective on this one."
The people behind this were too powerful for her to handle alone.
Mary nodded. "Got it."
She knew her limits. Someone had poisoned her food to frame her, and they had significant influence.
She needed to hand it over to the police and Matthew to clear her name.
Robert stood up. "Where are you heading? I'll give you a ride."
Mary said, "To the police station first, it's close by."
"Alright, I'll take you." Robert grabbed his keys and left the restaurant. Mary followed.
At the police station, she handed over the video. The police copied it and started investigating the girl who poisoned her.
Afterward, Mary went straight to the hospital, even though she didn't want to see Matthew.
Seeing him reminded her of his promise to marry Laura.
Suppressing her feelings, Mary entered the elevator. As the elevator doors slid open, two bodyguards approached her. "Please leave."
Mary's eyes turned cold. "I demand to see Matthew. Go relay my message to him."
The bodyguard said, "Mr. Montagu ordered us not to let you in."
Mary's heart clenched with pain. "Tell him I'm here to address the poisoning issue. I hold evidence that will vindicate me."
The bodyguard was firm. "Mr. Montagu won't see you."
Mary angrily called Matthew, but he hung up immediately.
Mary thought, 'That jerk! What is he thinking?
Why wouldn't he see me?'
She had evidence to prove her innocence, but she couldn't even see him? What was the point of all this?
Mary kept calling, but eventually, Matthew's phone was turned off.
She was so angry she wanted to smash her phone and thought, 'How could Matthew do this?'
Mary's eyes reddened with anger. Just then, the elevator doors opened, and Cindy walked out.
