Chapter 759 What Would You Do?

Mary glanced at Matthew and said, "I don't need you around."

Matthew reached out and tapped her forehead. "Mary, who put that idea in your head? You just asked me to help investigate, and now you're saying you don't need me?"

Mary took a step back. "Don't you want any kind of reward?"

If Matthew didn't want anything, she might believe him.

But his intentions were too obvious.

Mary couldn't trust him.

A hint of helplessness flashing in Matthew's long, narrow eyes, he said, "The only reward I want is for you to fall for me, body and soul."

Mary was speechless, looking at Matthew in disbelief and thinking, 'Does he really think that way?'"What's with that look?" Matthew saw her expression and immediately guessed what she was thinking. "You think I only care about my pleasure?"

He leaned in closer, his deep, magnetic voice particularly seductive. "Mary, be honest. Haven't I always tried to make you feel good before I enjoy myself?"

Mary was speechless.

Her ears turned red, and she avoided his gaze. "Anyway, there's no future for us."

Matthew's eyes fell on her reddening ears, but he didn't argue.

Whether there was a future or not was up to them.

Besides, her blushing and shyness were good signs, weren't they?

Matthew wasn't in a hurry; he could wait.

"Alright, I won't tease you anymore. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere else?" Matthew asked as he packed up the food tray.

Mary shook her head. "No, I'm fine."

Her fever had gone down, and apart from feeling a bit weak, she had no other symptoms.

"Let me check your temperature."

As Matthew spoke, he reached out to her.

Mary immediately backed away, her clear eyes wary.

Matthew said, "If I wanted to do something to you, do you think you could stop me?"

Mary pressed her lips together and said, "I'm fine now. The fever's gone."

"I don't believe you." Matthew insisted, placing the back of his hand on her forehead and his other hand on his own.

"You're right, no fever."

Mary was speechless.

After being discharged from the hospital, Mary went straight to the orphanage.

The construction site had already started rebuilding, and David was sitting nearby, supervising.

When he saw her return, he stood up and asked, "How are you?"

Mary said, "I'm fine now."

"That's good." David sighed in relief and then said, "Well, I guess I can't convince you to stay a few more days now."

Mary smiled and said, "It's okay. I'll come back in the future. I'm here to say goodbye. I'm heading back to Lindwood City."

David replied, "Safe travels!"

After saying goodbye to the children, Mary left.

On the way back, her mood shifted slightly. She had unexpectedly learned about her origins, but once again found herself in a dilemma.

Matthew sat beside her, a laptop on his knees, his long, elegant fingers tapping away at the keyboard, his expression indifferent.

She glanced at his handsome face, hesitating to speak.

Matthew didn't look at her but seemed to sense her thoughts. "What do you want to ask?"

Mary lowered her eyes slightly, her fingers twisting together. After a long hesitation, she finally asked, "If what happened to me happened to you, what would you do?"
