Chapter 306 Something Happened

"Hey, Mr. Adams, drink some water.?"

Shirley handed him the glass, but her eyes were somewhere else.

Herman took a sip and smirked, "Are you thinking about offing me right now?"

Shirley forced a smile, "Mr. Adams, you’re kidding. Murder's kinda illegal, you know."

Herman chuckled, "So, if it wasn't illegal, you'd do it?"

Shirley just smiled.

A shiver ran down Herman's spine.

He got up and started heading into the woods. After a few steps, he noticed Shirley still standing there. "What are you waiting for?"

Shirley looked puzzled, "You need me to hold your hand while you pee?"

Herman's forehead veins popped, "Just follow me!"

Shirley’s face twisted like he was some creep, and she even took a step back. "No way."

Herman laughed in frustration. "I'm not going to the bathroom."

Shirley looked even more confused. "Then why the woods?"

Herman fell silent, thinking, 'She's always got a smart mouth, huh?'

He glared at her. "You coming or not?"

Shirley didn't know what he was up to, but she figured if she didn't follow, her life would get rough. She might get woken up in the middle of the night to make instant noodles for him, only for him to watch her eat them instead.

She followed, lips pursed. "What are we doing?"

Herman sighed, "I'm in a bad mood. Gonna dig a hole."

Shirley cut in, "To bury yourself? Mr. Adams, that's pretty deep. You know you're just wasting time, right?"

Herman went quiet again, rubbing his temples.

Shirley thought he was gonna hit her and took a few steps back.

"What are you doing?"

Herman gave her a look.

Shirley blinked, "Thought you were gonna hit me."

Herman sneered, "I don't hit women."

Shirley sighed, "Good to know."

She walked back to his side and pointed ahead. "That spot looks good for a hole."

Herman just stared at her.

Shirley felt a chill and shut up.

Herman stared for a while before looking away and walking deeper into the woods.

The further they went, the more remote it got.

Shirley followed, swatting mosquitoes and glaring at his back like she could burn a hole through it.

She muttered to herself, 'In broad daylight, what's he doing in the woods? Feeding the mosquitoes?'

"Found it."

Herman's voice broke the silence. He pulled up some grass.

Shirley looked confused. "What's that?"

Herman gave her a cool glance and started heading back.

Shirley pursed her lips and didn't ask more.

As they walked, she stepped on a stone, slipped, and fell towards Herman!

A whistling sound filled the air, and the next second, Shirley felt a sharp pain in her shoulder!

She let out a muffled groan and collapsed onto Herman's back.
