Chapter 386 Matthew declared, "I didn't touch any other woman."
Seeing the message, Mary let out a big sigh of relief. Being late on her second day at work would've been a nightmare.
But then she thought, 'The real nightmare is that jerk Matthew! Last night, he acted like he'd never been with a woman before. How's that possible when he spent the night before with a movie star?'
Thinking about it made her feel sick. She got out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to throw up.
When Matthew walked in, he saw her stumbling around.
Hearing her retching, his face darkened. He walked over and patted her back, asking, "What's wrong with you?"
"Don't touch me!" Mary snapped, pushing him away.
Her eyes were filled with tears from the vomiting.
Tears were about to spill over.
She looked at him with utter disgust, like he was something filthy.
Matthew's face darkened even more. "You think I'm dirty?"
Mary didn't say anything and retched again.
When she finally had nothing left to throw up, she felt a bit better. After rinsing her mouth, she took a deep breath. "Matthew, let's get a divorce."
She couldn't convince herself.
She couldn't accept sharing a man with other women!
She didn't want him anymore!
Matthew stared at her. Her face was pale, and her frail body was trembling slightly, clearly in extreme discomfort.
"Because I spent the night with another woman?" Matthew asked.
"Yes!" Mary looked at him and nodded. "If we keep going like this, neither of us will be happy. We should get a divorce."
Matthew gazed at her and suddenly said, "And you said you weren't jealous."
Mary pressed her lips together.
Matthew continued, "I didn't spend the night with another woman."
His voice was low and magnetic as he calmly explained, "That night, we just happened to check into the same hotel. I was in a luxury suite. Without my permission, no one can go up there, except you, my wife."
He walked over to her and hugged her. "Mary, I haven't touched another woman."
Mary's body tensed up, then she turned away. "So what? I don't like you anymore. Continuing our marriage is pointless."
Matthew stared at her back, his good mood instantly turning sour.
"Don't even think about it." He coldly threw out the words and turned to leave the bathroom.
Mary, feeling utterly drained, sat on the bathroom floor, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face.
She felt so pathetic.
Just because of his casual explanation, she actually believed him!
If this continued, her firm resolve would definitely waver.
She didn't know what to do.
It took her a long time to calm down and come out of the bathroom. She changed clothes and went downstairs to eat. Matthew had already left.
Just then, her phone rang. It was a call from Shirley.
Shirley's voice was anxious. "Mary, my house was robbed!"
Mary frowned. "What happened?"
Shirley said, "I just got home and found the door open. Everything inside is a mess. I'm checking to see if anything is missing."
Mary said, "I'll come over right now."
"Okay."
