Chapter 222 Not So Great

Rodolfo glanced at Matthew and asked, "Mr. Montagu, what's up?"

He shot Peter a warning look, signaling him to behave in front of Matthew.

If Peter offended the investors, he would be Lindenville's sinner and even his father Rodolfo couldn't save him!

Peter got the message. He wanted to take Mary away but didn't dare make a move. Matthew's commanding presence kept him in check.

Matthew's cold eyes locked onto Peter. "You said she's your girlfriend?"

Peter was taken aback but nodded. "Yes."

A chill filled the room, making everyone uneasy.

Mary's eyelashes fluttered, and she bit her lip.

'What is Matthew up to?' Mary wondered.

She didn't want him meddling in her life, preferring to keep her distance.

"Not bad," Matthew said coolly, then got up and left.

Everyone was puzzled.

"What did Mr. Montagu mean?"

"No idea."

"Does Mr. Montagu know her?"

Rodolfo glared at Peter, wanting to scold him but held back. "Go home and stop embarrassing us!"

Matthew was already a CEO, while Peter was just a playboy. It was infuriating!

Peter hesitated. "Dad, what about her..."

Rodolfo snapped, "Get out! If you ruin this deal, I'll break your legs!"

Peter shrank back, glanced at Mary, and left.

Mary sighed in relief and told Rodolfo, "Thanks. I hope your son leaves me alone. If he messes up Lindenville's future, it would be a big loss."

She turned to leave.

"Wait," Rodolfo called out coldly.

Mary frowned. "Mr. James, what do you need?"

Rodolfo's gaze was sharp but quickly softened. "If you find out what Mr. Montagu wants, I'll make sure Peter stays away. Deal?"

Mary's expression hardened. "Nope. Disciplining your children is your responsibility, not a bargaining chip. Focus on real efforts for Lindenville, not shady deals."

She walked out.

Rodolfo's face soured, but he stayed silent with everyone watching.

Mary left the private room and headed out of the Opulent Oasis Hotel, pulling out her phone to call Barbara.

Suddenly, someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her into another room.

"Ah!"

Mary screamed, her face going pale.

Mary thought, 'Was it Peter again?'

She struggled, but then someone gripped her waist and pressed her against the wall, covering her mouth.

Despair washed over her.
