Chapter 655 Even if I kill you, you still won't get a divorce
"How to get revenge?"
Mary looked at Linda, her gaze somewhat dazed.
Linda smirked as she took a thumb-sized plastic bag from her purse, containing a single pill. She handed it to Mary.
"Just give this to him, and he's done for. Everything you're going through will end, and you'll be free."
Mary looked at the bag. After a long silence, she reached out and took it, staring at it as she asked, "What will happen to Matthew after he takes it?"
Linda smiled slightly, "He'll just be unconscious for a while, no life-threatening danger. You don't have to worry about going to jail."
Mary said nothing, gripping the pill tightly.
Linda looked at her, sighed softly, and said affectionately, "If Matthew hadn't been pestering you, you wouldn't be like this now."
Mary closed her eyes.
Seeing this, Linda said, "Get some rest. I won't disturb you anymore."
With that, she got up and left.
The sound of the hospital room door closing reached her ears. Mary opened her eyes, looked at the pill in her hand, and a mocking smile appeared on her lips.
Mary already knew who had been hiding behind the scenes all along.
Therefore, she took out her phone and dialed Matthew's number.
The call was quickly answered, and a man's deep voice came through.
Mary said flatly, "Let's end this marriage."
Matthew's tone grew heavier, "Mary, I've told you, I won't divorce you."
Mary stared at the pill, looking at it repeatedly, "Even if one day I might kill you, you still won't divorce me?"
Matthew said in a deep voice, "Then go ahead and kill me. My life is yours."
Mary's long eyelashes trembled, and she suddenly hung up the phone.
She got out of bed, went to the bathroom, and threw the pill directly into the toilet. Watching the pill get flushed away, she returned with a blank expression.
When Shirley came back, she looked puzzled, "What did that Linda say to you?"
Mary shook her head, "Nothing much, just came to check on me. Besides, her proposed solution can't solve my current predicament."
Shirley was puzzled but seeing that Mary didn't seem to want to talk about it, she didn't press further.
"It's okay. The divorce has been filed. Just wait for the court date. You don't have kids or any property disputes. Your wish is to divorce, and the court should grant it."
Mary stared out the window, her heart a whirlwind of emotions.
She felt that things might not be that simple.
After a month in the hospital, she still walked slowly, but the doctor had already suggested she go home to recuperate.
Mary really didn't want to stay in the hospital any longer, so she went ahead and processed her discharge.
On the day of her discharge, Joey came.
He stared at Mary and asked, "Why not stay a bit longer? The hospital can better monitor your condition."
Mary smiled and shook her head, "It's too stuffy here, and it's inconvenient. I'll be more comfortable at home, and the doctor said going home would help my recovery."
"That works too." Joey didn't insist, "This caregiver will continue to look after you until you're fully recovered. Do you need anything else?"
Mary shook her head, "No, thank you, Mr. Cooper."
Joey smiled slightly, "You really don't have to be so formal with me. I've always said I feel a sense of familiarity whenever I see you. If possible, I'd really like to be friends with you. How about we exchange contact information first? That way, you can reach me directly if you need anything."
