Chapter 499 The Blood in My Body Froze

Matthew's face turned icy, his eyes cold as he stared at her.

He'd been waiting for her to come back, and what happened?

Half an hour went by, and she was still MIA. He texted her, no reply. He called, no answer!

He felt like his blood was turning to ice!

He sent someone to find her, and guess what? She was at the movies with Shirley.

Not even a single reply while watching a movie?

"Get in the car," Matthew said, his voice like ice.

Mary slipped her phone into her coat pocket, shook her head, and said, "You're kinda scary right now. I'm afraid you'll kill me if I get in."

Matthew sneered, "At least you know when to be scared."

Mary said, "There are cameras around here. No matter how tough you are, you won't do anything to me."

She looked completely fearless.

This made Matthew's heart race for some reason.

He pushed open the car door and got out, his tall figure looming over her, casting a shadow. An invisible pressure filled the air.

He said in a deep voice, "You're right."

He walked up to her, suddenly grabbed the back of her neck, and bent down to kiss her.

After the kiss, he whispered, "See? When I do that, no one dares to say anything."

It was a quick kiss. Mary barely felt it before he pulled away.

She immediately wiped her lips with the back of her hand, frowning at him, "Matthew, are you nuts? We're divorced!"

Matthew looked at her disdainful gesture, his eyes cold and dark, "So what? Just because we're divorced, we can't kiss anymore?"

Mary was silent, thinking, 'What kind of twisted logic is that!'

She wiped her lips for a full minute before stopping.

Her lips were red and swollen, looking even more tempting.

Matthew noticed and suddenly said, "I kissed you once, and you wiped for so long. What if I kissed you for a minute?"

Mary immediately stepped back, alarmed, "Matthew, don't you dare!"

Matthew sneered, turned around, "Get in the car, or I don't mind kissing you under the camera for a long time."

He got back into the driver's seat.

Mary glared at him, not daring to confront him because he really would do it.

She got into the passenger seat.

Mary pulled the seatbelt over and fastened it, then asked, "Who sent me that photo?"

But Matthew started the car and drove off without saying a word.

Mary looked at him, confused, "Matthew, why aren't you talking?"

Matthew said coldly, "I told you before, we'll talk when we get to Montagu Mansion."

She thought, 'Is there something wrong with Matthew? We're in the car right now; why can't he just say it? Why does he need a specific place?'

Mary simply looked out the window. Now that she was in the car, she couldn't exactly jump out.

They arrived at Montagu Mansion quickly.

Mary got out of the car and walked straight inside, leaving Matthew with a slender, graceful back.

Matthew watched her for a while, then took a cigarette out of his pocket, lit it, and leaned against the car to smoke.

Mary reached the villa's door and noticed Matthew hadn't followed. She turned and saw him casually leaning against the car, a cigarette between his fingers, his handsome face deep and brooding, his demeanor cold and distant.

'At a time like this, he's smoking?' Mary thought, speechless again.

After a while, he finally finished his cigarette, took long strides, and walked towards her.
