Chapter 38 First, Get a Divorce

Mary hung up and turned to Matthew, "I need to go back to the office."

Matthew's expression was cold, "Let's get a divorce first."

Mary's heart skipped a beat, and she said, "We can get a divorce anytime, but I can't lose my job. You know how I rely on it."

Matthew's dark eyes stared at her for a while before he said, "Go back to the office."

The driver immediately turned around.

Getting out of the car, Mary walked quickly toward the elevator, which came just as she arrived. She walked in, ignoring Matthew behind her. She pressed the close door button, but just as the doors were about to shut, a hand reached in, causing the doors to open again.

Mary was speechless.

Wasn't there another elevator next to it?

Why did Matthew have to ride with her?

Matthew's tall figure stepped in, making the elevator space feel even more cramped.

Standing in the corner, Mary opened her phone files and carefully reviewed all the project details to ensure she wouldn't make any mistakes when speaking to Kevin later.

The elevator doors soon opened, and Mary walked out without looking up.

Matthew stared at her slender figure, his dark eyes gradually softening a bit.

As soon as Mary entered the office, she sensed the unusual atmosphere. Everyone looked serious, and Kevin was pacing back and forth with a worried expression.

"Kevin, what's going on?" Mary asked.

Seeing her, Kevin immediately said, "The design drawings for the Skyline Heights Construction Project have been leaked. Someone took the drawings and approached the people at the Henry Group first. The Henry Group just called me, saying they will reconsider this collaboration. Mary, you are in charge of the Skyline Heights Construction Project. During this period, have you ever taken any materials out of the company?"

Mary's face turned serious, "Kevin, are you accusing me of leaking the drawings?"

Kevin replied, "I just checked with everyone, and no one else is suspicious. Only you've been coming in early and leaving late recently, and even took a few days off. Mary, I know you're capable, but it's hard for me not to suspect you."

Mary said, "I was in the hospital due to a work injury. Does that count too?"

At this moment, a woman's voice chimed in, "Isn't it easy to do something while you're in the hospital?"

The woman was Donna Martin, who had previously competed with Mary for this project, but Mary ultimately won.

Mary asked, "Did you see me leaking the drawings?"

Donna hesitated, "Of course not."

Mary questioned, "If you didn't see anything, why are you accusing me?"

Donna's expression darkened.

Kevin waved his hand, "Now is not the time to argue. The most important thing now is to salvage the collaboration with the Henry Group. You all should understand what this collaboration means. Once successful, it will be a shining achievement for our branch, surely followed with promotions and raises!"

He paused and looked at Mary, "Mary, as who's in charge of the project, what's your take on this?"

Mary lowered her eyes slightly, contemplated for a moment, and then said, "I will recover the losses and get the Henry Group to work with us again!"

Donna sneered, "Bold claims."

Mary looked at her with a cold glint in her clear eyes.

Donna cursed under her breath and turned to leave.

Kevin said, "Alright, we'll leave it to you this time. Everyone get back to work, and don't forget your tasks."

Mary returned to her desk, staring at the computer in thought for a moment before texting Shirley.
