Chapter 271 Leave Now
Suddenly, a quick figure darted over from a distance!
The two men thought it was easy to get Mary into the car. But the next second, each received a hard kick to the head, knocking them out cold!
Sam straightened his clothes, took a photo of the two men, and sent it to Maria before checking on Mary in the car.
She was already unconscious.
Sam frowned, picked up the fallen groceries, carried Mary, and headed to the Opulent Oasis Hotel.
The receptionist saw them and rushed over, asking, "What happened to Ms. Smith?"
"Call an ambulance, she's been drugged," Sam replied.
The receptionist nodded and called 911.
Sam stood aside, hesitated, then called Michael.
Meanwhile, several officials were with Matthew at a seaside resort when Michael whispered something to him.
Matthew's face darkened. "I have an urgent matter. Excuse me," he told the officials and left.
Rodolfo quickly asked, "Mr. Montagu, what happened? Can we help?"
Matthew replied, "I'll let you know if needed," and got into the car. Michael drove away.
At the hospital, Mary woke up to a white ceiling and the smell of disinfectant.
Her last memory was being dragged into an alley and drugged.
Startled, she sat up abruptly, pulling at the needle in her hand, causing sharp pain and bleeding!
"Don't move!" a deep male voice said. Her shoulder was held down, and she stiffened, looking over.
"Matthew?" Mary's voice trembled.
"I'm here," Matthew responded. A nurse rushed in, removed the needle, and didn't put it back.
Matthew held her hand, pressing to stop the bleeding.
Realizing she was safe, Mary relaxed and leaned back.
"Someone kidnapped me," she said with her eyes closed.
"I'm investigating. Don't worry, I won't let them get away with it," Matthew assured.
Mary's eyelashes fluttered. She had offended two powerful people in Lindenville: Peter and Jenny. It was likely one of them.
One was the deputy county chief of Lindenville, Rodolfo's son, in whom Matthew wanted to invest. The other was the daughter of an old friend with whom he had close ties.
'Could Matthew really keep his word?' Mary didn't dare think too much. Matthew had disappointed her too many times before.
"Lindenville isn't safe. I want to leave now," she said.
Matthew frowned. "Do you think you'll be safe if you leave Lindenville?"
Mary looked up. "I have a feeling who's targeting me. If I leave their sphere of influence and they can't find me, I'll be fine."
"You're being naive, Mary. The business world values connections. You think you'll be safe if you leave Lindenville, but how do you know the next city doesn't have people they know?" Matthew countered.
