Chapter 129 The Divorce Lawyer

Mary lifted her head and gave Robert a faint smile. "I found Shirley, and we were about to leave."

Robert grinned. "Perfect timing. Let me give you a ride."

Mary shook her head. "No, I already called an Uber. Thanks, though."

Shirley chimed in, "You can always cancel it. Mr. Williams is being nice. Thanks, Mr. Williams."

With a mischievous smile, Robert teased, "If Shirley says so, are you still going to refuse me?"

Mary looked at Shirley helplessly.

Shirley winked at her with an ambiguous expression.

They got into Robert's car.

Mary leaned against the window, gazing at the night outside, lost in thought.

Robert glanced at her through the rearview mirror. "What's wrong? Maybe I can help."

Shirley looked at him, pondered for a moment, and suddenly asked, "Mr. Williams, do you know any good divorce lawyers?"

"Shirley!" Mary immediately held her hand. "Stop it; that's not what I am thinking."

Shirley turned to her, wanting to say something, but hesitated.

Robert chuckled softly, "Actually, I can make a few calls if you need one."

Mary smiled, "Thank you."

Shirley sighed helplessly beside them.

Why couldn't Mary accept help even in her situation? Did she have to front Matthew every day?

Mary closed her eyes and said nothing more. Her mind was foggy, and she unknowingly fell asleep.

When she woke up, she found the car had stopped, and looking around, she realized they were at Maple Grove Manor.

Shirley was no longer in the car, and Robert's coat was draped over her.

Mary was puzzled and asked, "Where's Shirley?"

Robert replied, "She went home."

Rubbing her slightly sore temples, Mary looked a bit embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I fell asleep. Did I delay you in any way?"

Robert smiled, "No, not at all. I had nothing urgent."

Mary said, "Then I'll leave now. Dinner's on me next time."

"Mary," Robert called out her name.

Confused, Mary looked at him, "Yes, what is it?"

Robert got out of the car, opened the back door directly, and looked deeply at her. "Honestly, resign and come work at my company. I will make sure you're not mistreated."

Caught off guard, Mary didn't expect him to say that.

"Mr. Williams, you..."

Robert interrupted, "We've been through a lot together. You don't have to address me as 'Mr. Williams.' Call me Robert as my friends do."

Mary pursed her lips slightly, her long eyelashes trembling, then she looked at him with clear eyes. "Robert, thank you, but I have my plan."

Robert stared at her for a moment, then chuckled lightly. "You're quite stubborn."

Mary was taken aback, finding the situation somewhat amusing and frustrating.

Robert continued, "I live here, too. Which building do you live in?"

Mary pointed to one of the buildings and said, "It's getting late; I am going back. You should rest early, too."

Robert rested a hand on the car door. "Alright."

His expression remained casual and mischievous as always, and the smile on his handsome face was so captivating that one couldn't help but fall.
