Chapter 329 Matthew, Stop Mocking Me
The doc checked Mary out and told her to chill out, 'cause getting all worked up would mess with her recovery.
She'd been hacking up a lung for a bit but had finally settled down. She looked like a ghost, all skinny and pitiful.
Matthew's lips were a tight line.
He didn't think she'd be this messed up.
She hadn't eaten all day.
Matthew stormed out, looking like he could freeze water with his glare.
With him outta the room, Mary let out a breath. She was scared he'd lose it any second.
Her stomach was growling like crazy, and she wanted to grab her phone to order some grub.
But, of course, her phone was back at the villa.
Mary shut her eyes, feeling weak.
She seriously thought Matthew was trying to starve her as some twisted punishment.
After a bit, the door creaked open, and Matthew walked back in, still looking like an ice king.
Mary blinked weakly and decided to get to the bottom of it. She tried to stay calm, "Matthew, you think I set you up? Why?"
"You got some nerve asking that?" Matthew's face got even darker.
Mary said, "I didn't do anything. You just blamed me outta nowhere. I need to know why, right?"
She paused and added, "Stop messing around. Just talk straight."
Matthew was so mad he almost laughed. Was she seriously lecturing him?
His cold eyes locked onto her. "Wasn't it you who sent Laura to my room last night? Mary, I checked the cameras. You met Laura in the garden, and then she showed up in my room. Don't tell me that's just a coincidence."
Mary finally got it.
So that's what went down.
She had no clue why Laura went to see Matthew.
But Laura must've said something to make Matthew think she sent her over.
Why didn't Laura get it? The real problem wasn't her, it was Matthew!
If Laura could just get Matthew to agree to a divorce, she'd sign the papers in a heartbeat and disappear from their lives!
Matthew saw the smirk on her face and coldly asked, "What's so funny? Did I nail it? Got anything else to say?"
Mary opened her eyes and looked at him. "Matthew, I do want a divorce, but I don't think catching you in an affair would make you agree to it because I know how twisted you are. Even if I had proof you killed someone, you wouldn't care."
She coughed a couple of times and went on, "This is all about you not trusting me. I don't know what Laura told you, but you believed her so easily. Matthew, if you don't trust me, why keep me around? Wouldn't it be better if we just divorced?"
Hearing this, Matthew's eyes narrowed as he looked at her teary eyes. "You didn't send her to find me? Then what about the soup?"
Mary said, "It was Grandma who sent it. She wants a great-grandkid, didn't you hear?"
She suddenly felt really bitter.
He knew what his grandma wanted and that the soup was from her. Laura just showed up and said some shady stuff, and he believed her right away, then punished and locked her up.
