Chapter 315 If You Want a Divorce, I Can Help You
"Yo, don't you want to check out the room first?? We're crashing here tonight," Matthew's deep, smooth voice echoed.
Mary sped up, swung the door open, and bam, there was Laura.
Mary's face turned icy. "Ms. Griffin, you into eavesdropping now?"
Laura looked awkward and said, "I was looking for Matthew. Didn't mean to overhear."
Mary just sneered and walked off.
Matthew stepped up and asked Laura, "What's up?"
Laura fidgeted and said, "Matthew, I had no clue you and Ms. Smith were back today. If I knew, I wouldn't have come. Seriously, I didn't mean to barge in."
She looked at Matthew, all earnest, like she was scared he'd get the wrong idea.
Matthew's sharp, handsome face stayed cool and indifferent. "I didn't think much of it."
Laura let out a sigh of relief. "Good. I was worried you'd get the wrong idea and fight with Ms. Smith."
She paused and added, "But Ms. Smith didn't look too happy. Did you guys have a fight?"
Matthew just stared at her coldly, not saying a word.
Laura quickly backtracked, "Sorry, I shouldn't butt into your business. I just thought we were friends, you know?"
Matthew asked, "Anything else?"
His tone was distant, totally different from before.
Laura bit her lip lightly and said, "Nope, that's it. I won't bother you anymore."
She turned and left, her shorts showing off her prosthetic leg, which was hard to miss.
Matthew's eyes lingered on her leg, his expression unreadable.
Mary walked out of the villa and into the garden.
Breathing in the fresh air, she felt a bit clearer.
Dusk was settling in, and the garden lights were already on.
She wandered around, stopping to admire the flowers.
She couldn't leave now and had to stay the night. The thought of sharing a room with Matthew made her skin crawl!
"Ms. Smith," Laura's voice came from behind.
Mary turned, her eyes cool and indifferent. "Ms. Griffin, need something?"
Laura walked over with a gentle smile. "I can tell you don't love Matthew anymore. Why not just divorce him?"
Mary's tone got colder, "Ask him that."
Laura looked surprised. "Is it Matthew who won't agree? He probably feels like he owes you for saving him. He's big on gratitude. He once promised to marry me but backed out because he felt he owed you more."
Mary's expression turned even colder. "So, what's your point?"
Laura looked serious. "If you really want a divorce, I can help."
A wary look flashed in Mary's eyes. "Does Matthew know you're two-faced?"
Laura looked a bit annoyed but said, "Ms. Smith, I just see you're unhappy in this gratitude-filled marriage, so I want to help. No need to mock me."
