Chapter 43 She Couldn't Understand Matthew's Thoughts

There was no time for Mary to figure out when Matthew had arrived; she immediately ran towards Henry.

"Mr. Jones, excuse me. Let me have one minute. After that, it's your call whether you want to hear me out or not."

Henry looked at the girl in his way, feeling a vague sense of familiarity. Seeing her face pale from the cold, he ultimately didn't leave.

"Alright, one minute."

However, he had no extra kindness; when he said one minute, he meant it. He raised his wrist to start the timer.

Mary took a deep breath and then began to lay out her ideas and thoughts.

As time slowly passed, at some point, Henry stopped looking at his watch and instead watched Mary with interest.

When Mary stopped, she smiled apologetically. "Sorry, got a bit carried away, went over time..."

It had been ten minutes, and she had only touched on the most critical points. Elaborating on the entire plan and design concepts would take the whole morning.

Henry nodded approvingly, "Your ideas are indeed impressive."

Mary bowed to him. "Thank you for this opportunity. I hope you will reconsider the partnership because my optimized design is definitely better than the stolen one."

"Hahaha!"

Henry laughed heartily, "Well said. I like your personality. You are very talented. Would you consider working for me?"

Mary was taken aback, "Mr. Jones, if I leave now,  the leak will definitely be pinned on me. I don't want to join your company with a tarnished reputation."

Henry nodded, "Good thinking. I'll get back to you."

Mary replied, "Thank you. I won't keep you from watching the sunrise."

Mary turned and left, exhaling a deep breath.

She had likely passed this hurdle.

Mary wrapped herself tighter in the jacket, belatedly starting to shiver. She was feeling unbearably cold.

After breakfast, the cruise ship would head back.

Mary looked at the jacket in her hand, bitterness in her eyes. She had a cup of hot cocoa in small sips.

She really couldn't understand Matthew more and more!

When the cruise ship docked, Mary left immediately, not even bothering to collect her wages as a servant. She had to head back to the company and wait to hear from Henry.

As soon as she returned, the receptionist called out to her.

"What's up?" Mary asked as she approached.

The receptionist said, "There's a call for you."

Mary picked up the phone, "Hello, this is Mary."

"This is Mr. Jones's assistant. Are you available now? I want to discuss the contract with you."

Mary's eyes lit up, "Yes, of course!"

After hanging up, she took the contract and headed straight to the Henry Group.

The collaboration was successfully finalized, and Mary felt relieved. When she returned to the company, standing outside the office, a cold glint appeared in her beautiful eyes.

It had been three days, and Mary still hadn't come up with any solution, nor had she even shown up.

The project team was in a panic. Someone said, "Kevin, could it be that Mary has run away?"

"How despicable! What she stole cost us so much effort and time. I wonder how much money she was paid. Wouldn't she feel guilty?"

"Let's not jump to conclusions. Accusing me without evidence, even insulting me, isn't that a bit too much?"

As that person's voice trailed off, Mary's voice rang out, tinged with a hint of coldness.
