Chapter 804 Does She Dare to Say She Regrets?
Mary furrowed her brow and glanced at Nora.
Nora gave her a playful wink. "You two chat. I'm gonna step out for a bit."
Seeing they had things to discuss, Matthew turned and left the hospital room.
Once he was gone, Mary said, "He's not your brother-in-law."
Nora burst into laughter, her cheeks dimpling. "I know, you guys had a fight, right? Now you can't stand the sight of him. I've seen lots of couples like that. I won't bring it up again."
Mary was at a loss for words; there was no point in explaining.
She felt there was no need to tell Nora about the impending divorce with Matthew. After all, it was happening soon, and there wasn't much to say.
Mary changed the subject. "While you're here, feel free to explore the area. It's pretty nice. If you need anything, just ask the nurse. If you're not feeling well, give me a call."
Nora nodded, her eyes full of gratitude. "I know, Mary. Thanks a bunch."
Mary smiled gently. "Getting better is what matters most."
Nora hugged her tightly, her voice choked with emotion, "I wish we were real sisters."
Having a sister like Mary would surely make her happy.
Mary felt a pang of sadness but didn't say much more.
In the VIP suite, the faint smell of medicine lingered in the air.
The nurse worked quietly, and Matthew pushed the door open and walked in. The nurse greeted him respectfully, "Mr. Montagu."
Matthew walked straight in and saw Richard lying on the bed.
Now, he looked frail and emaciated, a far cry from his former authoritative self.
Due to the stroke, his face was twisted, and when he saw Matthew, Richard immediately tried to make a sound, saliva dribbling from the corner of his mouth.
Matthew grabbed a tissue and wiped his mouth, his expression stern, his tone cold.
"How could you be so useless? You haven't even seen Samuel come back, and you're already like this. I'm afraid you won't last until he returns."
Richard grew more agitated, trying to speak, his body convulsing.
Matthew tossed the tissue into the trash, looking down at him with cold eyes. "Since you're sick, focus on getting better. Don't worry about useless things. But rest assured, the Montagu Group will thrive under my leadership."
After all, he had schemed to take it over, and he intended to cherish it.
He turned and left, feeling no warmth for Richard, his father.
Nora was asleep, so Mary left. As she went downstairs, she saw Matthew's tall figure standing at the entrance, his back to her, surrounded by a swirl of smoke.
She walked over and said, "Thanks."
Matthew saw her coming and stubbed out his cigarette, looking at her delicate face. "Thank me for what? Aren't we in a fair exchange?"
Mary ignored him and started walking away.
Matthew chuckled, following her, "I asked you, and you agreed. Thinking of backing out now?"
Would she dare?
If she said she regretted it, he would surely throw Nora out of the hospital.
No doubt, he would do it.
