Chapter 765 Handling the Divorce

Matthew picked her up and carried her to the bathroom.

As he bathed her, a slight smile played on his lips. "See? Top-notch service. You comfy?"

Mary's body was still weak from their passionate encounter, but her tone was icy. "Oh, very comfy. How much do I owe you?"

Matthew's hands paused, a dangerous glint appearing in his eyes. "What did you just say?"

Mary continued, ignoring him. "Based on market rates, your skills and service are decent. A thousand bucks should cover it, right?"

Matthew laughed in disbelief. She thought he was a male escort!

He pinched her soft flesh without hesitation. "Seems like you're very satisfied with my service. How about we continue?"

Mary looked up at him calmly.

Matthew leaned in and kissed her deeply, only letting go when she was breathless.

Mary tried to push him away, but he continued washing her.

She simply leaned on his shoulder and said, "Your fever's gone, and I'm fine too. Let's go to the courthouse after this."

Matthew was momentarily at a loss for words. Their current position was so intimate, and they had just been so close, yet now she was talking about divorce.

But he couldn't say anything else. After all, he had agreed to it.

"Alright."

Matthew responded, then grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her.

Mary pushed him away. "I can walk by myself."

Matthew didn't stop her, watching her slender figure with a hint of sadness in his eyes.

What a heartless woman.

She put on her dress and acted like she didn't know him.

Mary got dressed, went upstairs, freshened up, had a bit of breakfast, and then grabbed her documents and headed downstairs.

When the elevator doors opened, Matthew was just stepping in. The atmosphere between them was a bit tense.

Mary said, "Just in case, I'll ride with you."

Matthew didn't respond.

Mary glanced at him. "There shouldn't be any surprises this time, right?"

Matthew looked at her. "How would I know?"

Mary scoffed lightly and said nothing.

Last time, she thought they were really divorced, but what happened?

Matthew had faked the divorce papers!

This time, she wouldn't let that happen again!

They reached the underground parking lot, and Matthew took out his car keys. Mary opened the passenger door and got in.

When they arrived at the courthouse, they were the first couple there.

Mary couldn't hide her excitement, but then she noticed Matthew wasn't following her.

She turned back to him. "What do you mean by this?"

Matthew said, "I really have a connection with this place."

Mary's mouth twitched, but she didn't respond.

They went through the process step by step at the counter.

But when it came to dividing their joint assets, they hit a snag again.

Mary said, "I don't want a penny. I'll leave with nothing."

Matthew countered, "That's not right. You're my wife, and you've been with me through tough times. I need to compensate you. I'll have my lawyer calculate my assets and distribute them."

Mary frowned at him. "You agreed so quickly. Were you waiting for me here?"

Matthew's expression was calm. "No, I wasn't."

Mary said, "Then let's do it my way. I'll leave with nothing. Let's finalize it now."

Matthew looked at her deeply for a long moment before turning to the staff. "Do as she says."
