Chapter 593 Resistance is Futile

Matthew watched her actions, a hint of helplessness appearing on his handsome face. He didn't enter the guest room but sat directly on the sofa in the living room, taking out a cigarette and lighting it. The sound of the lighter was quite loud in the silent living room.

Just then, his phone rang. He took it out and saw it was a call from his bodyguard. "Mr. Montagu, Ms. Sarah has been taken away by the Sarah family."

"Got it." Matthew responded indifferently, not paying much attention to the matter.

Right now, his mind was filled with thoughts of how to get Mary to forgive him and accept him.

The next day.

The news of Laura being kicked out of the Sarah family indeed made it to the news.

Mary lay in bed, watching the news content with a blank expression.

She got up to wash and opened the bedroom door, immediately seeing Matthew wearing an apron, coming out of the kitchen and placing a plate on the dining table.

Matthew saw her and said, "You're up? Perfect timing, come and eat."

Mary walked over, glancing at the breakfast he made, a simple sandwich. She didn't stand on ceremony and sat down to eat.

Seeing this, Matthew raised an eyebrow and asked, "How does it taste?"

Mary replied, "It's okay."

Matthew wasn't discouraged and said, "If it's just okay and you still ate it, that means it's pretty good."

Mary remained silent.

He really knows how to comfort himself.

After eating a sandwich, Mary got up to go to work.

But Matthew said, "Didn't Maria tell you to take a day off?"

Mary replied, "I don't need it."

Matthew looked at her calm face, not a trace of last night's breakdown.

Her emotions were too repressed.

He blocked her way and said, "You must rest. I've already talked to Maria. Today, your time belongs to me."

Mary frowned, "Matthew, are you out of your mind? What gives you the right to dictate my time?"

Matthew said, "My shamelessness."

Mary was stunned and silent.

Mary and Matthew stood in a standoff at the door. Mary changed her shoes back and sat on the sofa, saying, "Even if I don't go to work, I won't be with you. You can leave now."

Matthew nodded, "I should indeed leave."

Mary seemed surprised that he would say that.

Matthew took off the apron and said, "But you have to come with me."

Mary frowned, "I'm not going."

Matthew said, "Whether you go or not is up to me."

"You!" Mary's face turned livid with anger. Seeing Matthew walking towards her, she immediately stood up to avoid him. "Matthew, what exactly do you want?"

Matthew said, "Come with me, and I'll tell you. Don't worry; I won't harm you."

Mary looked utterly unconvinced.

Matthew crossed his arms, "Mary, give up struggling. Sooner or later, you'll have to come with me. You can't win against me."

Reality was just that cruel. It was always been this way. No matter how much Mary struggled and resisted, things seemed to develop in a predetermined direction. Her resistance was futile.

It was as if all the strength in her body had been drained. She pulled the corners of her lips in self-mockery and said, "Fine, let's go."

This time, she didn't even ask further. Wherever he said to go, she would go.

After all, in their relationship, he had always been the one in control.
