Chapter 408 Burn
In the private room, Matthew and Jessica were sitting across from each other.
When Shirley suddenly barged in, Matthew's face turned icy.
Jessica, looking puzzled, asked, "Miss, who are you?"
Shirley smirked, "I'm here to bust a cheater."
Jessica's face soured. "Miss, please don't talk nonsense. Matthew and I are just friends."
"Friends? Do you even know he's married?" Shirley didn't care if they were friends or not.
She couldn't stand Matthew, and anyone around him got on her nerves too!
Jessica was about to say something, but Matthew cut her off. "Throw her out."
A bodyguard appeared out of nowhere, grabbed Shirley, and escorted her out.
Mary stepped forward and said, "Shirley, let's go. We're leaving."
The whole time, she didn't even glance at Matthew or Jessica.
Shirley was fuming at Mary's calm demeanor but didn't dare say more. She knew she'd been too impulsive, and it was always Mary who had to clean up her mess.
She was just mad that Matthew wouldn't let Mary go but also didn't treat her right.
She turned and walked away. "Fine, let's go eat."
Mary sighed in relief, worried Shirley might do something rash again.
"Mrs. Montagu." Just as she was about to leave, Jessica stood up and walked over with a gentle smile.
Mary looked at her coolly. "Hello."
She still remembered what Jessica had done with Matthew at the Johnson villa.
She hadn't expected Matthew to be having dinner with Jessica now. But she didn't care about these things.
Jessica said, "Matthew and I are just friends. I came to Lindwood City to discuss a cooperation project between the Johnson family and the DK Group. Mrs. Montagu, please don't misunderstand my relationship with Matthew."
Her tone was gentle, urgently explaining, as if afraid she might misunderstand.
But the more she explained, the easier it was to cause misunderstandings, right?
If it were any other woman in this situation, even if she had no thoughts initially, she might start to have doubts after a few words from Jessica.
But Mary wasn't like other women. She didn't care at all who Matthew was with.
She smiled and nodded. "Alright, I won't misunderstand. You two enjoy your meal; I won't disturb you."
Jessica was a bit surprised at this.
At that moment, the door to the private room opened, and a waiter walked in carrying a charcoal fire.
Jessica's eyes flashed, and she suddenly stepped forward to grab Mary's hand. "Mrs. Montagu, in that case, why don't you stay and join us?"
Her nails dug slightly into Mary's hand.
Mary, feeling the pain, instinctively shook off her hand. "What are you doing?"
Jessica let out a sharp scream, her arm hitting the charcoal fire basin directly. The basin was knocked over, and the scorching charcoal instantly burned her skin red!
She cried out in pain, tears streaming down her face. "Mrs. Montagu, you still don't get my relationship with Matthew, do you? I really didn't do anything. Why are you doing this to me?"
A large part of her arm was burned red, looking quite horrifying.
Tears fell from her eyes as she looked at Mary in disbelief.
Mary was also slightly stunned.
Seeing this, Matthew hurriedly stepped forward and helped Jessica up. "Are you okay?"
His gaze fell on Jessica's arm, and his face immediately darkened. He looked up and gave Mary a cold glance.
