Chapter 816 Must Protect Mary
Finnegan dedicated his whole life to the Montagu Group. He's a major player!
Even Richard showed him respect when they met. So who did Matthew think he was?
How dare he talk to him like that?
Isaiah stood up, noticing Finnegan's grim expression, and smirked. "Finnegan, stop dreaming about things that aren't gonna happen. You're still a shareholder of the Montagu Group and can enjoy your retirement. But if you lose your shares, what then?"
With that, he walked out.
The others in the conference room gradually left, leaving Finnegan and a few other shareholders behind.
Everyone's expressions were grim.
Finnegan's eyes were dark, staring ahead, his hands clenched into fists!
Just then, his phone rang. He looked at the screen and saw an unfamiliar number.
He wasn't planning to answer, but then a text message came through.
After reading the message, Finnegan's expression changed, and he answered the call.
"Is it really you..."
"It's me."
---
In the CEO's office.
Michael looked at Matthew's sharp, handsome face and hesitated before speaking. "Mr. Montagu, offending Finnegan this time might not be something he'll easily let go."
Matthew replied coldly, "He's a leech. What's the point of keeping him around?"
Michael was silent for a moment, knowing that once Matthew made a decision, it was final. He didn't dwell on it further.
He shifted the topic, "We've found out that the company contacting various marketing accounts is a foreign enterprise. They claim to be in the jewelry business and have a brand, but it's quite niche."
Matthew's eyes darkened slightly. "Why would a foreign jewelry company interfere with the Montagu Group's affairs?"
Michael speculated, "I think it might just be a front. There could be other industries behind it."
Matthew instructed, "Keep digging. Make sure SouthNorth protects Mary. She must not be harmed!"
"Got it!"
Michael responded and then asked, "Mr. Montagu, how should we handle the video situation?"
Matthew said, "Hold a press conference. Also, go to the hospital."
"Yes, sir."
...
The internet was buzzing.
By mid-morning, the news of Matthew's altercation had already made it to the top three trending topics on various platforms.
It was even more discussed than celebrity gossip.
Mary kept checking her phone, her heart sinking.
The buzz hadn't died down, and she wondered how Matthew was holding up.
Sean placed a cup of coffee in front of her and said, "You don't look too good. Have some coffee to perk up?"
"Thanks."
Mary looked at him and thanked him.
Sean replied, "No need to be so formal with me."
Mary took a sip of the coffee, the bitter taste spreading in her mouth, pulling her focus back a bit.
Just then, her phone rang. She saw it was Joey calling.
"Mr. Cooper."
Mary answered, her tone calm.
Joey's warm voice came through, "Do you have time now? Can we meet?"
Mary asked, "Is there something you need, Mr. Cooper?"
Joey replied, "To be honest, I'm calling about Matthew."
Mary's eyes lowered slightly.
Could it be that he still wants to persuade her to divorce Matthew?
