Chapter 237 Escorting the Beauty Back to the Hotel
Matthew tightened his hold, feeling her warmth.
"Mr. Montagu."
Rodolfo approached, surprised to see Matthew with a woman but quickly composed himself.
"Are you staying here or heading back to the Opulent Oasis Hotel?" Rodolfo asked quietly.
"Going back to the Opulent Oasis Hotel," Matthew replied. He preferred the better accommodations there.
Rodolfo nodded, glancing at Mary. He was shocked. Wasn't this the girl Peter wanted last night? She had barged into their room, and Rodolfo had made a deal with her to keep Peter away if she could please Matthew. She had succeeded quickly!
Rodolfo's eyes showed a flash of disdain, but he quickly masked it and left.
Mary seemed asleep with her eyes closed.
Matthew picked her up and headed to a car where Michael was waiting. Michael opened the door respectfully.
Matthew carefully placed Mary inside and got in himself. Michael noticed and felt pleased that Matthew was finally cherishing his wife.
The ride back was quiet. Matthew occasionally glanced at Mary's peaceful face, his expression softening.
As they entered the city and passed a hotel, Mary opened her eyes.
"Stop the car."
Michael braked, confused.
Matthew looked at her, "You're awake?"
Mary's face was cold again. She got out without looking back.
"Mary!"
Matthew followed, grabbing her wrist, "Where are you going?"
Mary's expression was indifferent, "It's late. I need to rest. Thanks for the ride. Goodbye."
She pulled her hand away.
Matthew's face darkened, "You were awake the whole time?"
Mary's fingers curled slightly. She had been awake when placed in the car but pretended to sleep.
"Yes, is there a problem?" she said calmly.
"Mary, you lied and took my car. Is this your attitude?" Matthew was almost amused.
"I said thank you. What more do you want? Should I kneel and bow?" Mary retorted.
Matthew realized she had a knack for making people angry.
Mary smiled at his darkening expression. "Matthew, it's an honor for you to give a beautiful woman like me a ride. If you're upset, you're being petty."."
She turned and walked away.
Matthew was really amused and thought, 'How could Mary say this with a straight face?'
