Chapter 694 She Is Nothing

"Come in."

His voice was flat, emotionless.

The hospital room door creaked open, and Jessica stepped inside. Seeing him looking much better, she stood by the bed, her gaze conflicted.

"I never thought you were such a schemer."

After a moment, Jessica broke the silence.

Matthew's eyes were cold. "We both got what we wanted. What's the point of talking about it now?"

During their deal with the DK Group, the Johnson family had gained a lot, yet she hadn't mentioned it. Now she was here, accusing him of being manipulative.

Jessica gripped her bag tightly. "Matthew, I really wanted to get along with you. Why did you have to use me?"

Matthew's face remained impassive. "Anything else?"

Jessica continued, ignoring his question. "You used me to get to Mary, but what did it achieve? Mary doesn't care about you at all. What good did it do you? She still wants a divorce!"

She knew exactly what would hurt Matthew the most and didn't hold back.

She truly liked Matthew, but he had used her and then wanted to discard her. How could that be fair?

"Are you done?"

Matthew's eyes were cold and unfeeling.

Jessica bit her lip, feeling deeply frustrated as she looked at his unresponsive, handsome face.

He didn't care about anything she said because, in his eyes, she was nothing.

This realization made her even angrier.

But there was nothing she could do.

Enrique had already messaged her, telling her she had to return today. Her family had arranged a marriage for her, and she had to fulfill her duty as the Johnson family's daughter.

At that moment, she suddenly envied Mary, who had no such constraints, and Matthew loved her so much. She was truly free.

Jessica turned to leave.

"Wait."

But as she reached the door, Matthew's deep, magnetic voice came from behind.

Jessica's face lit up. Had he changed his mind?

"Did you see Mary when you came?"

But Matthew's words shattered her hopes.

"Yeah, and I told her some things she needed to know." Jessica turned to him, a smile playing on her lips. "She seemed pretty shocked, Matthew. You lied to her again."

With that, she left.

She hadn't believed that Mary knew nothing, thinking she was just pretending. But hearing Matthew's question, she realized Mary truly knew nothing.

And Matthew must have faced a setback with Mary; otherwise, he wouldn't be asking her.

A flash of vengeful satisfaction crossed her mind as Jessica left Lindwood City.

In the hospital room, Matthew's expression darkened.

No wonder Mary had suddenly blocked him. It was Jessica's doing!

But those things were true.

Mary would find out sooner or later.

Matthew reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose, suddenly feeling a dull pain in his chest. His face paled a bit.

He didn't call for a doctor or nurse, just endured the pain.

Images of Mary in pain and distress flashed through his mind. Was this how she felt back then?

Matthew forced a smile, his deep eyes filled with a hint of sorrow.

Mary returned to Maple Grove Manor, feeling completely out of sorts.

Sitting on the couch, staring blankly ahead, she suddenly grabbed a throw pillow and started hitting it.
