Chapter 697 We Have to Testify

"Hey there, ladies. Where you headed so early? Why not join us for a few drinks?"

Bobby, the blond guy leading the group, had a smirk on his face as he eyed Mary and Shirley. His eyes sparkled with interest, wholly captivated by their beauty.

Mary frowned. "Not a good time. Maybe some other day."

She grabbed Shirley's hand and tried to walk past them.

But Bobby blocked their way. "When's a good time then? We're just trying to be friendly. Have a drink with us, and we'll leave you alone. What do you say?"

If Mary and Shirley went with them, it would be a nightmare.

Outnumbered, Shirley didn't argue. Instead, she discreetly pulled out her phone to call the police.

"Hey, what do you think you're doing?"

A man behind Bobby reached out and snatched her phone, smashing it to pieces when he saw she was about to call for help.

"Come on, lady. That's not cool. We just want to have a drink with you. No need to call the cops over this."

"You!"

Shirley looked at her broken phone, her face darkening.

Mary said, "There are security cameras here. Aren't you afraid of getting caught?"

"That joke was hilarious!" Bobby looked at his buddies.

"Terrified," one of them said, and the group burst into laughter.

Shirley grew anxious. "What do we do? They clearly don't want to let us go."

Mary was at a loss too.

They were still a ways from the bar, and the security guard at the entrance, seeing what was happening, just looked away, clearly used to such scenes.

They were also far from the road, with no one around to help.

What now?

Bobby reached out to touch Mary's face. "Come on, just a couple of drinks, make some friends. If you ever need anything, you can count on us."

Mary dodged his touch, her face full of disgust.

"They said no. Didn't you hear?"

A voice came from nearby.

Everyone turned to see a man standing a short distance away, staring at them with a blank expression.

"It's him!" Shirley exclaimed.

Mary frowned. She hadn't expected it to be him, the amnesiac man.

Bobby exchanged a look with his friends and then walked over to the man. "You idiot, mind your own business."

Shirley grabbed Mary. "Let's go, quickly."

Mary followed Shirley to the roadside, looking back to see Bobby punch the amnesiac man in the face.

The man was caught off guard but quickly fought back.

He had a strategy: he focused on one person, no matter how many others hit him, he only targeted that one.

"Get in the car." Shirley urged.

But Mary took out her phone and called the police.

The station was nearby, and the sirens soon blared. The group tried to flee, but the amnesiac man held Bobby tightly, preventing him from escaping.

The police arrived and cuffed Bobby. The amnesiac man was taken along for questioning.

Mary said, "We should go too."

Shirley was surprised. "Why? It's late. We should just go home where it's safe."

Mary insisted, "He got hurt saving us. We need to testify."
