Chapter 684 She Doesn't Like Robert, She Likes Sean?
In the hospital
When Herman returned, he animatedly recounted the events that had transpired at the breakfast diner.
Matthew listened for a while before suddenly interrupting him, "Wait, she really said that?"
Herman paused but quickly realized Matthew was asking about Mary rejecting Robert. He nodded, "Yeah, she seemed a bit embarrassed, clearly not expecting Robert to suddenly confess his feelings."
Matthew frowned. She didn't like Robert.
He should be happy about this news.
But for some reason, his mood grew heavier.
She didn't like Robert. Could it be that she liked Sean?
His expression darkened even more as he thought about this.
The main issue was that she had too many men around her.
It gave her too many options.
He reached out his hand and looked at Herman, "Give me your phone."
Herman handed it over, asking, "What are you gonna do?"
Matthew took the phone and dialed a number, his tone cold, "Fire Sean."
Maria replied, "Why?"
She clearly had just woken up, her voice still a bit hoarse.
Matthew said, "That's an order."
Maria's rebellious streak kicked in, "But I don't want to obey."
Matthew fell silent.
Maria continued, "Sean is very competent and makes a lot of money for me. I have no reason to fire him."
She seemed to remember something and smiled, "Mr. Montagu, are you afraid that Mary likes Sean? Why are you so insecure?"
Matthew hung up the phone without a word.
Maria chuckled softly and thought, 'He really is insecure.'
Herman looked at Matthew's darkening expression and asked, puzzled, "Who are you firing?"
Matthew closed his eyes, "I'm tired. You can leave now."
Herman gritted his teeth, "Damn it, I haven't finished talking. You have to listen to me!"
Mary slept until 10:30 in the morning. After checking her phone for a bit, she got up to prepare lunch.
She made dishes that both of them loved, and the aroma filled the kitchen, making her own mouth water.
"Smells amazing!"
Shirley followed the scent into the kitchen, her eyes shining brightly.
Mary said, "Alright, go wait outside."
"Okay!" Shirley obediently turned and left.
Once Mary finished cooking, she brought the dishes out.
Shirley came over to help and then took out her phone to snap some pictures, immediately posting them online.
Shirley: [It's been so long since I've had such delicious food. It smells amazing.]
Below were nine pictures.
Since she had only made four dishes and a soup, the remaining four pictures were selfies of her and Mary.
When Herman scrolled through her post, he clicked on each picture, saying, "I have to admit, these dishes look really good."
Seeing that Matthew still had his eyes closed, he placed the phone in front of him, "Take a look. This should be the food Mary made, right?"
Upon hearing this, Matthew opened his eyes. When he saw the dishes, his gaze softened.
Just then, the caregiver came in with a tray of hospital food.
Matthew's brow furrowed, and he began to gag.
"What's going on?" Herman was stunned.
The caregiver looked equally confused, "I don't know."
"Take it away." Matthew said with difficulty, his face extremely pale.
The caregiver quickly removed the food, and Herman opened the window to let the smell out. Only then did Matthew's expression ease a bit.
