Chapter 171 Now I Have No Choice

Mary was shocked. She wondered, 'Was Robert here?'

"Oh, okay." She hung up and went to the door. The doorbell rang, and there stood Robert with his purple short hair.

"Robert, you're here," Mary said, smiling slightly.

Robert smirked, his attractive eyes seemingly able to captivate, looking even more handsome. "What's up?"

Mary let him in and quickly explained the situation. Seeing the groceries on the table, Robert raised an eyebrow. "So, you went to the police station for this?"

Mary nodded. "Yeah."

Robert asked, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

Mary felt awkward being questioned directly. She rubbed her nose. "I thought I could handle it. But the police took longer than I expected. I didn't want to drag this out, so I wanted to clear my name ASAP."

She paused, then added, "I didn't want to bother you, but now I have no choice."

Robert chuckled. "It's no big deal."

Mary's eyes lit up. "How long will it take to get results?"

"Just a moment," Robert said, then made a call and turned to her. "Send the samples now, and we'll have results by noon tomorrow."

Mary was thrilled. "That's great, Robert, thank you!"

Robert asked, "Is that all the thanks I get?"

After a moment, Mary asked, "Should I treat you to a meal then?"

Robert replied, "What's so good about eating out? How about you whip up a meal for me instead?"

Mary was surprised by his simple request. "Are you sure? My cooking is pretty average."

Robert replied, "Try your best. I'll judge the taste."

Mary nodded. "Alright!"

Luckily, she had other ingredients, so she rolled up her sleeves and was about to cook.

Robert sat in the dining room, watching Mary busy in the kitchen.

Soon, the doorbell rang. Mary opened the door, and the person Robert contacted arrived. They packed up the groceries and left.

Mary went back to cooking while Robert leaned against the door frame, arms crossed, his purple hair made him look even more alluring, and the diamond earring caught the light.

Mary peeked at him and quickly said, "Robert, don't stand here. It's smoky." Her tone implied she already saw Robert as a brother.

Robert noticed and his mouth twitched slightly.

"Okay, let me know when it's ready," Robert said, strolling around the house.

This house was spacious, decorated simply yet luxuriously, with Mary's personal touches here and there.

Robert picked up a bunny plush toy, chuckled, and put it back.

Half an hour later, Mary came out with the last dish. "Robert, it's ready."

"Alright." Robert walked over, pulled out a chair, and started eating.

With the first bite, his eyes lit up!
