Mary's face immediately pale.
Based on Herman's attitude, it was obvious that he treats Shirley like a toy.
Since that was the case, she wouldn't let Herman take Shirley away today, no matter what.
"Fine, let her go. You have no right to take her away, and even less right to interfere with her freedom," Mary said coldly.
Herman raised an eyebrow. "Mary, I'm being polite to you for Matthew's sake. Are you taking yourself too seriously?"
Mary's expression remained pale. "You don't have to be polite for his sake. I have nothing to lose. If you insist on taking her, you'll have to run me over first."
A fierce determination erupted in her eyes.
She had to protect Shirley!
Shirley was her only family!
Shirley looked at her with deep emotion and then bit down hard on Herman's hand.
Herman, in pain, immediately let go of her.
Shirley quickly ran to Mary's side. "Mary, I won't go with him!"
Mary nodded. "I will protect you."
Shirley was deeply moved.
Herman looked at Shirley and Mary in front of him, feeling extremely troubled. Despite his words, he really couldn't do anything to Mary.
After all, she was still Matthew's wife.
Herman's cold gaze fell on Shirley's face, and a wicked smile curved his lips. "You'd better hope she's always by your side."

Shirley said, "I'll find a way to distract him. Then I'll ask Robert for help. He'll help me for your sake, and the favor will be on your account."
Mary was silent.
The plan was good.

Mary drove back, and by the time they returned to Maple Grove Manor, it was already dawn.
Shirley insisted on going home. On the way, she said, "Herman will think I'm going to your place. I won't go. I'll go home, get some rest, and then think about leaving Linwood City."

Mary thought for a moment and dialed Joshua's number.
"Ms. Smith."
Joshua's voice sounded a bit tired.
Mary asked, "When you were following me, did you notice anyone else following me?"
Joshua was startled and quickly said, "No, Ms. Smith, there was only Terry and me by your side."
