Chapter 198 Are You Worthy of Ms. Griffin?
Mary took a few deep breaths to steady herself, then walked over to him.
When she got close, she asked stiffly, "What are you doing?"
Matthew grabbed her wrist and pulled her onto his lap.
Mary was shocked and froze, but didn't fight back.
Seeing the coldness in her eyes, Matthew got angry.
He grabbed her chin and said, "Mary, do you want to stay away from me?"
Her eyelashes trembled. "Yes."
Matthew's grip tightened, his eyes full of anger. He brushed her lips with his thumb. "Fine, I'll approve your resignation, but you have to agree to one condition."
Mary felt a bad vibe. "What?"
"Sleep with me," Matthew said.
Mary's eyes widened. "You shameless jerk!"
'He's going to marry Laura and has already promised her, yet now he's making such an unreasonable request to me!' Mary thought.
Her eyes reddened with anger. "How can you do this to Ms. Griffin?"
Matthew ignored her and pinched her chin. "Do you want to resign or not?"
Mary was speechless.
He had her cornered.
But after everything, she couldn't bring herself to sleep with him!
Matthew stared at her. "I'll give you ten seconds to decide."
"Ten."
Mary's face turned cold.
"Nine."
His deep voice echoed in her ear.
Mary's breathing hitched. "Sign the papers first."
He had to sign them so she could take them to HR and complete her resignation.
"Eight."
Mary glared at him. "Matthew, you..."
"Five, four, three..."
"Fine!"
Mary gritted her teeth and agreed.
Mary cursed inwardly, 'Matthew, this bastard!'
But she had no choice.
Matthew's lips curved into a faint smile. He kissed her gently. "Come to Montagu Mansion tonight."
Mary barely held back from pushing him away.
He let go, and she quickly got up, calmed herself, and left.
Matthew was in a good mood.
Mary, however, looked terrible. Michael noticed and wondered what Matthew had done to make her so angry.
Michael entered the office to report the schedule. "Mr. Montagu, there's a social event tonight."
"Cancel it," Matthew said indifferently.
Michael paused. "Yes."
As he was about to leave, he remembered something. "Mr. Montagu, Sam wants to see you."
"No, tell him to get lost," Matthew said coldly.
Michael hesitated. "Mr. Montagu, Sam is just worried about you, he..."
But Matthew's icy gaze stopped him.
He thought of Sam's body covered in bruises, swallowed hard, and said, "Yes."
Sam had always been by Matthew's side, but he had offended Mary and got punished. Michael had to remember this lesson.
Mary was much more important to Matthew than Laura!
