Chapter 669 Don't You Like This Face?

That was Robert's business; she had no intention of being with him.

But Matthew's gaze grew colder and colder as he looked at her.

"Fine!" He sneered, threw out the words, and got up to leave.

Mary frowned, feeling utterly baffled. "What's going on?"

She continued to look outside. The sky was overcast, and raindrops had already started to fall.

"Ms. Smith, it's going to rain. Please come inside." The servant's voice came from behind her.

"Okay, I know." Mary responded and got up to go inside. That was when she noticed Matthew's phone.

He had forgotten to take it with him.

She picked it up and walked toward his room.

She couldn't help but glance down at the screen. It was still the photo of Robert and Joan in bed.

Her heart remained untroubled.

Matthew returned to the room, realizing he had forgotten his phone. He came back with a cold expression, only to find Mary holding his phone, looking at the photo.

So she cared that much?

She said she didn't mind, but her heart was honest!

Had she already fallen for Robert?

Why else would she be staring at that photo?

Realizing this, Matthew felt incredibly irritated and frustrated, wanting to do something to vent his emotions.

But he held back.

In the past, he hadn't held back, which led to the current situation.

"Have you seen enough?" He stood there, asking coldly.

Mary heard his voice and looked up abruptly, feeling a bit embarrassed, like she had been caught snooping.

"Here, I wasn't looking on purpose." She handed the phone back to him, explaining herself.

Matthew's eyes were dark as he looked at her. Suddenly, he walked over and wrapped his arm around her waist.

Mary was startled, her pupils contracting. "What are you doing?"

Matthew moved closer, his narrow eyes deep and dark, now covered with a layer of coldness.

"Mary, don't you like this face of mine?" He stared at her intently and said.

Mary was taken aback. "What are you talking about?"

Matthew said, "You were staring at my face, lost in thought. Isn't it because you like this face? If I face you like this every day without saying a word, can you..."

He seemed to struggle to finish his words.

His brows furrowed, and after a long moment of hesitation, he said, "Can you..."

"What kind of nonsense are you talking about?"

Mary suddenly pushed him away. "Matthew, if you just want to live here quietly, I have no objections. But don't make any other demands. I won't agree!"

Her face turned colder.

With that, she walked past him and returned to her bedroom.

Matthew clenched his phone, his thin lips pressed into a straight line.

Why couldn't he say it?

Was it that hard to speak?

"Rejected again, right? Serves you right."

Shirley's voice came from behind, her tone filled with undisguised schadenfreude.

Matthew gave her a cold look, then turned and left without a word.

Shirley snickered and walked toward the bedroom. Seeing Mary sitting on the edge of the bed, lost in thought, she asked, "Mary, are you wavering?"

Mary was startled and came back to her senses. "What?"

Shirley bent down, looking closely at her face. "Being this close, did it remind you of him again?"

Mary blinked. "How did you know?"

Shirley chuckled. "Isn't it obvious? That jerk Matthew has been dressing like this for days. It's exactly how he looked when you first met. He's trying to use your memories to stir up your emotions."
