Chapter 40 Mary’s Public Embarrassment

Robert looked at her in surprise. She wasn't like this at the bar that night; she had been drinking like crazy, unstoppable by anyone.

"It's okay," Robert said, glancing at his clothes. "This time, was it unintentional as well?"

Mary felt even more embarrassed. "It truly was. How about you take off your clothes, and I'll wash them for you?"

Robert chuckled at her teasing, "Right here?"

Mary frowned, "I'm Mary Smith from the DK Group Lindwood City Branch. You can send the clothes to my company, and I'll wash and return them to you."

She had a good sense of boundaries and distance.

'Mary.'

Robert silently repeated her name and then said, "Alright, I remember you."

With that, he turned and left.

Mary breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he didn't pursue the matter. She really didn't want any more trouble.

On the second floor, Laura looked down at the railing and was surprised to see Mary there.

How did she get in?

Seeing that Mary was alone and not wearing any jewelry, dressed quite low-key, Laura narrowed her eyes.

She guessed that Mary probably didn't have an invitation.

Those who sneaked into this kind of party could end up thrown into the sea.

Heh!

Mary began searching for Henry again and finally spotted him chatting with a group of people on another deck. Many people surrounded him, so she couldn't just approach him recklessly.

Mary stood nearby, quietly waiting for an opportunity.

As the night grew darker, the sea beyond the railing was pitch black, with faint sounds of waves gently passing by. At that moment, Henry moved, walking towards the other side with a few people.

He was leaving!

Mary's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately followed him.

"Mr. Jones, hello. I'm Mary Smith from the DK Group Lindwood City Branch and also manager of the Skyline Heights Construction Project. I want to discuss the design concepts and ideas of the project with you. I believe no one in this world understands these better than I do!" She intercepted Henry and spoke in one breath, waiting for his response.

The smile on Henry's face faded slightly. "But I have received better design drawings. I'm not interested in yours."

Mary replied, "The design you received is mine."

Henry said, "That's your problem. Please don't waste my time."

At the same time, two servers approached, "Madam, may I see an invitation?"

Mary's expression froze.

Henry walked away directly, and as she instinctively tried to follow, the two servers stopped her, "Hold on, please show us your invitation!"

The voice was loud and immediately drew the attention of the surrounding people."I..."

Mary was about to say something when she turned and saw two familiar figures not far away.

It was Matthew and Laura.

They stood together like a perfect couple. Matthew was handsome and tall, while Laura was gentle and graceful.

Mary suddenly felt embarrassed, as if she was a joker being watched by others, and he happened to be there.

Would Matthew mock her for overestimating herself?

Mary's fingers clenched tightly.

The server's tone became more aggressive, "Please show us your invitation. Or else we will have to do our duty!"

Watching this from a few steps away, Matthew finished his champagne in one gulp and then walked towards Mary.
