Chapter 9: She Turns Out to Be Matthew's Grandmother!

Matthew frowned, "What's wrong?"

Linda said, "I don't have all the details now. You better hurry."

"I got it." Matthew rushed to the hospital the second he hung up.

The old lady was examined at the hospital, in whose leg there was a slight bone fracture, so she needed to stay in the hospital some time.

The old lady clutched Mary's hand, looking aggravated, saying, "Sweetheart, it hurts a lot."

Mary was a bit helpless, "Madam, I'm not your granddaughter-in-law."

"You are, you are!" the old lady vent her spleen like a child. "I don't care; you are my granddaughter-in-law!"

"Alright, alright, I am. Take it easy, easy." Mary had to calm her down in case getting too emotional was bad for her recovery.

The old lady finally smiled, "Sweetheart, why don't you come to visit me? You never show up, just like my grandson!"

Mary said nothing but smiled. At that moment, the door was open. The old lady and Mary both turned to the door. Mary was shocked when they saw who it was.

'Matthew! What is he doing here?' she pondered.

"What are you doing here?"Matthew frowned when he saw Mary.

Before Mary could say a word, the old lady sternly scolded, "Matthew, watch your tone! Why are you so mean to your wife? Apologize!"

Matthew remained silent. Mary chuckled, thinking, 'So this old lady was actually Matthew's grandmother, Victoria Montagu!'

Mary looked at Matthew calmly, curious how he would apologize to her. Ever since their relationship hit rock bottom, he had never been kind to her, as if she was in his debt! However, he was the one who wronged her first!

Matthew looked at Victoria and said, "Grandma, I need to talk to her. Why don't you take a rest now?"

He grabbed Mary's arm and pulled her out of the ward. Victoria was still saying, "You can't be mean to your wife. Do you hear me?"

The door was closed, and Matthew gripped Mary's arm, pulling her in front of him with cold sight, "Mary, I can tolerate your nonsense, but taking advantage of an elderly with Alzheimer's, isn't that too much?"

Despite the pain in her wrist, it hurt even more in her heart when she heard him saying "Nonsense!"

Matthew sneered, "Didn't you deliberately approach my grandma and tell her who you are? You'll stop at nothing to avoid a divorce!"

Mary was infuriated by Matthew's words! He actually believed she would do such a thing! Hadn't he known what kind of person she was over the past year? Felt aggrieved, she forced herself to hold it back.

She raised her chin and said, "I don't want a divorce, but I didn't know she was your grandma before this!"

"Stop lying." Matthew gripped her even tighter, "If not you, why would she keep calling you her granddaughter-in-law?"
