Chapter 249 A Woman Like That Doesn't Deserve You at All
Before Mary could react, Jenny shoved her again.
Mary frowned at Jenny. "I'm Mr. Montagu's companion. I need to stay by his side."
She hadn't done anything to Jenny, but why was she being targeted?
Jenny's eyes widened. "How dare you talk back? You're just a companion. Who do you think you are?"
Jenny called over two servants. "Drag her out and throw her in the pool!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
The servants moved to grab Mary.
Mary's eyes turned cold. She saw Matthew nearby, chatting with Donovan Johnson, and walked straight to him.
"Mr. Montagu."
Ignoring Jenny's glare, Mary took Matthew's arm. "This place is huge. Can I stay with you so I don't get lost?"
She even winked at him!
Mary thought, 'I'm Matthew's wife! Why does Jenny think she can get rid of me? What right does she have?'
Matthew stiffened but softened at her smile.
"Okay."
"Mr. Montagu, you're so kind!" Mary said sweetly.
Jenny was fuming!
Her cousin Jessica was right; Mary was a problem!
No way could she let Mary stay with Matthew. Jenny thought, 'Matthew is mine!'
"Daddy, I want Matthew to talk with me for a bit. It's my birthday. Can you save the business talk for later, please?"
Jenny clung to Donovan's arm, acting spoiled.
Donovan, who doted on Jenny, tapped her nose. "You're grown up now. Don't pester Matthew, okay?"
"Oh, I got it."
Jenny then looked at Matthew. "Matthew, can we go outside? My garden is beautiful, and I haven't shown it to anyone else. I want to share it with you!"
Donovan added, "Matthew, it's Jenny's birthday. Go have fun; you don't need to stay with me."
Matthew nodded. "Alright, Uncle Donovan."
Jenny eagerly moved to take Matthew's arm, but Mary grabbed it first.
Jenny was furious but couldn't show it with Matthew there.
Outside the villa, Jenny excitedly talked about the rose garden, standing beside it like a proud princess.
"Matthew, I love the gift you gave me. Can you help me put it on?"
She handed him the box, eyes full of hope.
But Matthew said indifferently, "The gift is for you to wear; I'm just the giver."
"No, I want you to put it on me." Jenny pouted, grabbing his other hand and shaking it.
Matthew pulled his hand away. "Jenny, you know I'm married."
Jenny's face stiffened. "So what? You can get divorced. I know you don't really like her. You married her out of gratitude, which is why you haven't divorced her. Matthew, she doesn't deserve you. You should divorce her soon!"
