Chapter 771 Let's Stay at Montagu Mansion

Mary walked over to the corner and picked up a baseball bat, her eyes fixed on the door.

Another attempt to enter the password, and again it was wrong!

Her expression darkened a bit. She thought she might need to install a security camera at the door to monitor the situation.

After another failed attempt, the door fell silent.

Mary took out her phone and sent a message to South.

Mary: [There's someone at my door. Can you come up quietly and check?]

South: [On my way, Mrs. Montagu!]

After receiving South's reply, she waited quietly.

About ten minutes later, there was a soft knock on the door.

"It's me."

Matthew's deep, magnetic voice came from the other side.

Mary's expression froze, and she walked over to open the door.

Matthew stood there in silk pajamas, his short hair slightly tousled, his handsome face serious, and his eyes deep.

"Why is it you?"

She had called South.

Matthew asked, "Are you hurt?"

Mary shook her head, "They didn't get in."

Matthew walked in and said, "I checked. There are signs someone was here. Mary, you're being watched."

Mary's brows furrowed, "Who is it? Why are they targeting me?"

Previously, it was Roy, but he had been caught and was now spending the rest of his life in prison.

Matthew shook his head, "It's unclear right now, but living here isn't safe anymore. Have you considered moving?"

Mary thought for a moment, "I'll look at some places later."

Matthew said, "The safest place in Lindwood City is Montagu Mansion. You can move there. Don't worry, I won't go there. I'll stay here."

Mary looked at him skeptically, "That's your home. If you want to go back, I can't stop you."

"True," Matthew admitted frankly, "But Mary, safety comes first."

Mary said, "I'll think about it."

His attitude was gentle, discussing things with her, unlike his previous forceful and cold demeanor. She felt less resistant to him now.

She even started to seriously consider moving to Montagu Mansion.

However, with their divorce just twenty-nine days away, she thought better of it.

After the divorce, living in Matthew's house would be inappropriate.

"Since they've left, you should go too. I need to rest," Mary said, yawning.

Her dark circles were heavy, clearly from staying up all night.

Matthew walked in and sat on the couch. "You sleep, I'll stay here."

Mary frowned but saw his determined expression and didn't argue.

She turned and walked to the bedroom, making sure to lock the door.

Matthew listened to the sounds coming from the bedroom, his eyes darkening. He sat on the couch and sent a message on his phone.

When Mary woke up again, it was ten in the morning.

She had messaged Maria earlier to take the day off, so she wasn't in a rush. After washing up, she came out of the bedroom and saw Matthew still there.

He was still in his pajamas, replying to messages on his phone. The sunlight softened his cold demeanor, highlighting his handsome profile.

"Why are you still here?"

Mary asked, surprised.

Matthew looked at her, "You weren't awake, I was worried."
