Mary suddenly found herself amused by him.
However, the atmosphere in the hospital room was tense, and her position was quite awkward. If she laughed at this moment, she would definitely become a target for criticism.
Mary suppressed her laughter and lowered her eyes.
Matthew seemed to sense something and glanced at her. Seeing the amusement in her eyes lifted his spirits a little.

Richard also became angry upon hearing Matthew's words, but he didn't explode. Instead, he said in a deep voice, "We don't agree with you and Mary's relationship. I've already found a new wife for you. Jessica from the Johnson family is quite good. You've been meeting frequently lately, and I heard you treat her differently. Since that's the case, you two should get engaged first. Once your grandma's condition stabilizes, you can have the wedding."
Linda also chimed in, "I've met Jessica a few times too. She's dignified and courteous. She would definitely be a great support as your wife."
Matthew's handsome face showed no change in emotion. After a while, he looked at them and asked, "Are you done?"
Richard's expression soured. "Matthew, what kind of attitude is this? Are you being too arrogant?"
Matthew replied, "I'll have the same attitude as you. I've said it before, Mary is my only wife. As for anyone else, if you like Jessica so much, you can marry her yourselves. Don't involve me."
With that, he stood up, walked over to Mary, took her hand, and headed out.
Richard's expression soured even more., and Linda frowned. "Matthew, aren't you afraid of putting Mary in danger by doing this? Her life could have been peaceful and happy, but you keep forcing her to stay by your side. Have you ever asked if she's willing?"
Mary keenly noticed that Matthew's expression instantly soured, but the emotion quickly disappeared. He turned and gave Linda a half-smile.
He said, "If I find out that any of you are targeting or bullying her, don't blame me for being ruthless. You should know that if I go crazy, not even Samuel standing in front of me could stop me."
Linda's expression also soured.
Matthew took Mary and walked away.
Richard snorted coldly and said to Linda, "Since he cares so much about Mary, find a way to control her. She's just an orphan with no one to rely on. Controlling her shouldn't be difficult."
Linda nodded. "Alright, I'll take care of it."
Richard's gaze was very grim. "Matthew is too arrogant. He's forcing me to take action."
Matthew and Mary entered the elevator one after the other.
Mary's expression was very calm. The recent hassle hadn't affected her at all. She had watched the drama unfold and found it quite amusing.
