Chapter 214 Already Escaped
Matthew was fuming. He wanted to strangle Mary right then and there.
He'd picked out the house at Maple Grove Manor just for her.
Matthew wondered, 'How could she sell it?'
The room felt suffocating, and the air was icy.
Seeing the murderous look in Matthew's eyes, Robert frowned and began to worry about Mary.
'Could this lunatic actually kill her?' Robert thought.
He needed to warn Mary to get out of there fast.
Matthew's cold stare landed on him. "Mr. Williams, you don't need this house. Name your price, and I'll buy it."
Robert laughed. "Matthew, seriously? You think you can just buy it back? Got that kind of cash?"
Matthew's expression was icy. "I'll have someone contact you. Be out in three days."
He turned and left, heading straight to Mary's place.
Robert sneered. He owned the house now; no way he was selling it.
He called Mary.
"Hey, Matthew just left. He's coming for you. Be careful."
Mary's cheerful voice replied, "Thanks, Robert. I'm already out of Lindwood City."
"Huh?" Robert sat up. "Where are you?"
"Back in my hometown," Mary said.
"You got out fast. He won't find you now. Enjoy."
"Thanks, I will," Mary said.
"Don't forget the banquet next week. I need a date."
Mary laughed. "I'll be back in a week, don't worry."
"Good."
Robert ended the call.
Mary's plane had already taken off.
She put her phone away, donned an eye mask, and relaxed.
She knew Matthew would come after her, but not this soon!
Mary thought, 'The house is sold. What could he do?
I'm on a plane. Could Matthew pull it out of the sky?'
Mary smiled and drifted off to sleep.
Three hours later, the plane landed in Oak City, and she got into a pre-booked car to Lindenville.
She'd grown up in an orphanage there.
Robert's words had struck a chord.
Maybe she should find her biological parents. Her life didn't have to be all pain.
By the time she reached Lindenville, it was early morning. She checked into the best hotel in the small, poor town.
The room was clean. She showered and turned on her phone.
Tons of messages popped up, mostly from an unknown number. She knew they were from Matthew.
She deleted them all, got into bed, and started watching videos.
She'd napped on the plane, so she wasn't too sleepy.
As she watched, another call from an unknown number came in. She ignored it and blocked the number.
But the calls kept coming from different numbers, one after another.
