Chapter 226 Mary Will Kick Him Off
"Enjoy myself, my ass!" Peter kicked over the chair and punched Barbara in the face. "That bitch ran away again last night, and I got chewed out for it. Are you doing this on purpose, you old hag?"
Barbara's ears were ringing from the punch, and she stared at him in shock. "She ran away again? That's impossible."
Peter glared at her. "You should just shut down this orphanage. You can't even handle this. Think about it!"
He turned and walked away.
Barbara panicked. "Mr. James, please don't go. Give me one more chance. I promise she won't run away this time. Please!"
Peter stopped at the door, turned back to Barbara, and said, "Can you do that?"
Barbara nodded frantically. "Yes, I promise !"
Peter lit a cigarette and sneered, "If you mess up again, I'll make your life a living hell!"
He left, and shortly after, Barbara was released.
Breathing in the fresh air outside, Barbara was filled with hatred for Mary.
"Mary, that little bitch!"
She must have been the one behind Barbara's capture!
This time, she was determined to kill Mary!
Mary stayed at the hotel until the afternoon, then went to the police station, only to find out Barbara had already been released.
She frowned. 'What was going on? How did Barbara get released so quickly?'
Leaving the police station, she got into a taxi. Just then, her phone rang. It was David.
"Hello?"
David said, "Mary, you must have made a mistake. Ms. Inome has been released."
Mary's eyes turned cold. "So what?"
David hesitated. "There must be some misunderstanding between you and Ms. Inome. Why don't you sit down and talk it out?"
Mary sneered and hung up.
'David is incredibly stupid,' she thought.
She looked out the window, a bad feeling creeping in.
Barbara being released was not a good sign.
She needed to leave Lindenville quickly.
But then, the taxi suddenly braked hard, causing her to lurch forward and hit her forehead on the seatback.
The driver apologized, "I'm sorry, miss. My car has a problem. I need to call someone to fix it. You should get another cab."
It was unexpected. Mary got out and looked around.
The area was desolate, with almost no cars around, and the driver was on the phone calling for help.
Mary decided to walk ahead, thinking it would be better once she reached a busier area.
However, as she walked, the sky darkened. 'This can't be happening. Am I really going to get caught in the rain?' she questioned herself.
Large raindrops began to fall, and within a minute, she was soaked.
Mary was speechless.
At that moment, a car approached. Michael, with his sharp eyes, saw Mary and immediately said to Matthew in the back seat, "Mr. Montagu, it's Ms. Smith. She's getting drenched."
Matthew looked up from his documents and saw the rain-soaked Mary. He said coldly, "Drive past her."
Michael was taken aback. "What?"
Matthew questioned, "Didn't you understand me?"
Michael was at a loss for words!
'In this case, shouldn't Matthew stop the car and let Mary in?
Is Matthew really going to splash her with water?' Michael mused.
Michael suddenly worried. 'How is Matthew ever going to be with Mary just like that? Mary would definitely kick him off!'
