Chapter 701 Sitting in a Wheelchair
Michael heard Sean's words and shot him a cold look. "Mr. Montagu and Mrs. Montagu's affairs are none of your business."
Sean paused before replying, "As Mary's friend, I think I have the right to say something."
Michael retorted, "You said it yourself, you're Mrs. Montagu's friend. As a friend, you shouldn't overstep your boundaries."
Sean's brows furrowed.
Mary then spoke up, "The divorce is almost finalized, just waiting for the court date."
This was both a response to Sean and a rebuttal to Michael's words.
Sean's stiff expression softened into a smile. "You'll definitely succeed."
Mary smiled back at him, then bent down to get into the car.
Michael's face darkened, and he shot Sean a cold look before closing the door and getting into the driver's seat.
Once Mary was in the car, she noticed Matthew sitting in the back.
She paused slightly, gave him a once-over, and said, "You seem to be able to move around. How about we go check out the villa tomorrow?"
Matthew had a laptop on his knees. He paused his typing and looked at her. "Are you making things up?"
Mary fell silent.
She felt a sudden chill.
Not wanting to argue further, she turned to look out the window.
Victoria was still at the previous nursing home. The car drove in and parked.
Michael took out a wheelchair and placed it by the door, then helped Matthew into it.
Mary was slightly surprised. She remembered that he had a fractured rib from the accident, but his legs seemed fine. Why was he in a wheelchair?
Seeing her confusion, Michael explained, "The doctor advised Mr. Montagu not to walk or exercise too soon."
Mary glanced at him. "Alright."
Her expression was indifferent, and she was even colder towards Matthew.
Michael silently pushed the wheelchair into the nursing home room. The caregiver who was looking after Victoria saw them and quickly went in to inform her.
Victoria was sitting on the bed, looking increasingly frail and much thinner than before. Her gaze was fixed on Matthew.
"Grandma," Matthew said, his voice calm.
Mary also spoke, "Grandma, how have you been feeling lately?"
Victoria gave her a complex look and said, "I've been remembering some things lately."
These things seemed to be events that happened after she fell ill.
Her mind was always a mess, and it took a lot of effort to sort out the relationships.
Matthew responded, "Remembering how good you were to her before?"
Victoria sighed softly. "Mary, I'm sorry about what happened before."
Mary was surprised, then shook her head. "You don't need to apologize. I didn't take it to heart."
Victoria looked at Matthew. "Matthew, I've been dreaming about you and Samuel when you were kids."
Matthew's expression remained calm, waiting for her to continue.
Victoria gazed out the window. "Maybe my life is coming to an end. I keep recalling many things from the past. You were very mischievous, and Samuel was always with you. You two would always come to me with your antics. Whenever you got into trouble, Samuel would bring you to me, so your father couldn't do anything about it."
