Chapter 206 Driven to Madness
Thinking about last night's wild sex made her legs weak. She quickly shook it off and got up.
As she stepped out of bed, her legs almost gave out, nearly making her stumble.
'That bastard Matthew!'
Mary cursed silently and took a moment to steady herself before heading to the bathroom.
After washing up, she noticed the maid had already tidied the bed. She tried to stay calm and went downstairs.
Joseph saw her and smiled. "Mrs. Montagu, you're awake. Breakfast is ready."
Mary nodded and headed straight to the dining room.
As she entered, she heard Matthew's footsteps behind her. He pulled out the chair next to her and sat down.
Mary kept her eyes down and sipped her soup.
Matthew's gaze lingered on her, making her uncomfortable. She just wanted him to approve her resignation once they got to the office.
After finishing her meal, Mary looked up and asked, "Are we going to the office together?"
Matthew replied, "If you want to walk, I don't mind."
Mary fell silent and wondered, 'What's gotten into him?'
She stopped talking and waited for him to finish eating.
Matthew wiped his mouth and stood up. Mary quickly followed him to the car, feeling a bit excited.
Once at the office, she hoped he'd agree to her resignation.
Matthew noticed her excitement and his gaze turned cold.
'Is she that happy to leave?' Matthew thought.
The car ride became tense, but Mary, sensing something was off, didn't dwell on it. They soon arrived at the office.
She didn't expect to see Laura at the entrance.
Mary hesitated, feeling like the secret mistress despite being the legal wife.
Matthew got out and asked Laura, "Why are you here?"
Laura's eyes shifted to Mary and mused, 'Did they spend the night together?'
Laura was furious but had more pressing matters.
"Matthew, my cousin works at DK Group and went missing after coming home last night. Her family can't reach her. Do you know where she is?"
She smiled slightly, "If she did something wrong, could you forgive her? She's actually quite talented."
Matthew asked, "What's her name?"
Laura replied, "Lily Harris."
Mary frowned. Lily was her manager and knew about last night. Now Lily was missing?
Matthew's expression turned icy. "I had her taken."
Laura quickly asked, "Why? If she did something wrong, I apologize for her. Please don't be angry. Or just fire her. Her family is really worried."
Mary looked at Matthew. 'Did he detain Lily because of last night?' She wondered.
To her surprise, Matthew nodded at Laura. "Alright, I'll release her now, but she can't continue working at the company."
