Chapter 353 No Discussion

Listening to his whatever tone, Mary felt like she had a brick stuck in her chest.

She really needed a favor from him now.

He was the Montagu family heir, so finding Gerald should be a walk in the park for him.

Mary said softly, "I need you to help me find someone."

Matthew's voice got even icier. "A guy or a girl?"

"A guy."

"Forget it!" And with that, Matthew hung up on her.

Mary just stood there, silent.

She had a bit of a headache.

Matthew shut her down so fast, he didn't even let her finish.

She decided she had to see him face-to-face.

As Mary stepped outside, her phone rang. It was Mark. "Hey, Mark."

Mark sounded all panicked. "Mary, have you seen Gerald?"

Mary replied, "Not yet, but don't worry, I'll figure something out."

Mark was super anxious. "He got beat up real bad, he must be in a lot of pain. Mary, you gotta find him soon. He can't go to jail. He's my only son. If something happens to him, I won't make it!"

Mary quickly reassured him, "Mark, chill. They haven't taken Gerald to the station yet, so we still got time. I'll find a way."

Mark sighed, "I'm counting on you."

Mary smiled. "It's what I should do."

After calming Mark down a bit more, she hung up.

She shot a text to Matthew.

Mary: [What do you want for dinner tonight?]

After sending the message, she grabbed a taxi and left.

Matthew really dug her cooking, and since he'd been keeping tabs on her lately, he'd probably ask for something.

She needed his help, so she had to play nice.

In the damp, cold basement, the lights were blinding.

Someone was hanging by their arms, bloodied and out cold.

Matthew stood nearby, looking icy. His phone rang, and he scowled as he lit a cigarette.

Pale blue smoke curled up, hiding his face.

Michael stood next to him and asked, "Mr. Montagu, what do we do with this guy?"

Matthew replied, "Find out why Mary suddenly wants to find him."

"Got it." Michael left and came back soon after.

"Gerald's dad came to Lindwood City and asked for her help. She's grateful for what his family did for her, so she agreed." Hearing this, Matthew's sharp, handsome face got even colder.

He said, "Tell Gerald's dad to get out of Lindwood City."

"Yes, sir." Michael turned and left.

A bodyguard nearby held a whip soaked in saltwater, looking at Matthew.

Matthew waved his hand, and the whip cracked down on Gerald's body.

Gerald screamed, waking up from the pain.

He opened his eyes and saw the tall, handsome Matthew. Matthew's narrow eyes looked at him with zero warmth. "You messed with my stuff. Should I break your left hand or your right hand first?"

Gerald begged, "I was wrong, I really know I was wrong. Mr. Montagu, please forgive me. I won't do it again!"

Matthew, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, coldly said, "Too late."

He turned and left, with Gerald's screams echoing behind him.
