Chapter 78 What's Gotten Into him This Time?
Sam's investigation results were also sent over at that time.
Matthew checked his phone and saw several photos: Mary and Robert walking side by side on the road, sitting together in a restaurant, and leaving the restaurant together.
The atmosphere in the car suddenly turned cold.
Matthew's expression grew even colder, his eyes fixed on the two figures getting closer, chatting and laughing.
At this hour, Mary wasn't resting at the Montagu Mansion but instead came out for breakfast with Robert.
They hadn't even divorced yet, and Mary was already so eager to find another boyfriend.
On the other hand, Sam looked at a few different photos besides the ones he had sent.
These photos showed Mary being followed, Mary being grabbed by the hair and dragged into a dark alley, and then Robert suddenly appearing and saving her.
He chose not to send these photos to Matthew since he felt it was irrelevant.
Mary was never a good match for Matthew.
They were not from the same social class, so it was better to divorce sooner rather than later.
Laura had waited for Matthew for so long; she shouldn't wait in vain.
Sam, expressionless, deleted those particular photos.
"Thank you. It's right here." Mary smiled slightly at Robert downstairs.
Robert asked, "Shall I escort you upstairs? The security here isn't great. I suggest you move."
Mary shook her head. "It's fine. The police are looking for the man now. He shouldn't dare come after me again. I'm moving out soon, and I'll invite you to my new house then."
Robert smirked, his handsome face exuding a mischievous charm, "Am I the first guest you're inviting?"
Mary nodded, "Yes."
Robert replied, "What an honor."
Mary extended her hand. "Do you have a pen? Give me your phone number so I can inform you when I get a new phone."
Mary's phone had been smashed.
To her embarrassment, although she had intended to treat Robert to a meal, he ended up paying.
Mary felt she had to make up for this meal.
Robert said, "I didn't bring one, but I remember your number. I'll call you later."
"Okay." Mary nodded.
Just as she was about to say something else, she suddenly noticed something and turned her head. Not far away, Matthew's tall figure stood in the shadows.
She was stunned, her heart sinking abruptly.
Why was Matthew here?
Robert also glanced over and said, "Looks like your husband still cares about you. I'll take my leave now."
Mary nodded, "Okay, be safe on your way."
Robert nodded in return and walked away.
Mary withdrew her gaze and turned to Matthew. She remembered that when she had sought his help, she couldn't reach him on the phone, and a sharp pain pierced her heart.
If it weren't for Robert, she might have been a corpse by now.
She took a deep breath and walked over, asking, "Why are you here?"
Matthew gazed at her pensively. "Why didn't you answer my calls? Are you afraid I'd disturb your date?"
At his words, Mary's brows furrowed immediately. "Matthew, what are you talking about?"
Mary pondered, 'Was he out of his mind? How could he say such things? He went to see Laura in the middle of the night. Did Mary complain? And now he was accusing me?'
"Mary, based on your recent behavior, I thought you couldn't bear to leave me. It seems I was mistaken. The reason you're so eager to divorce me must be because of him," Matthew said in a deep voice, a tone that even sounded foreign to himself.
