Chapter 395 Did I say you could leave?

Mary flashed a small smile. "It's pretty good."

Maria beamed. "That's awesome. I'm heading to a business cocktail party tonight to expand our network. Wanna tag along?"

Mary blinked in surprise. "Me?"

Maria nodded. "Yep, you worked on the Henry Group project before, and a lot of folks in the industry know you. You're basically the face of my studio. Having you there will definitely draw in some partners."

Mary thought for a moment and then nodded. "Sure."

Maria grinned. "Great, I'll pick you up tonight."

"Sounds good."

The studio was just getting off the ground, and hitting up more events like this could really help.

Mary didn't want to miss out on this chance either.

That evening, Mary packed her things and descended the stairs to find Maria's sleek car waiting outside. She hopped in, and Maria handed her a bag. "Change into this."

Mary glanced at it and said, "No need, a business cocktail party doesn't call for anything too fancy. Something formal and simple will do."

Maria gave her a surprised look. "Looks like bringing you along was the right call."

Mary smiled faintly. "These cocktail parties are pretty formal, not much in the way of entertainment. Everyone's here for the same reason."

Maria nodded. "Alright, I'll follow your lead!"

The cocktail party was at a hotel, and the banquet hall was already buzzing with people.

When Mary and Maria walked in, they saw everyone was indeed dressed to the nines, looking all business.

Maria winked at Mary, pulled out her business card, and started mingling.

Mary was a bit nervous at first, but seeing Maria handle everything so smoothly, she started to relax.

Just then, she felt someone staring at her, making her uneasy.

She turned and saw a few young guys lounging on a couch nearby, one of them staring right at her.

Mary frowned slightly and looked away. With so many people around, she figured no one would try anything.

Maria soon led her over to the edge of the couch.

At that moment, a soft sound came from the side.

Maria and Mary looked over, and the guy who had been staring at Mary now had a big grin on his face. He said, "Is your studio looking for a project? I might have something good."

Maria smiled. "Hi, I'm Maria Diaz, head of XY Studio. Here's my card. Can you tell me more about your project?"

The guy's name was Frank Campbell, son of a bank president. He didn't even glance at Maria and looked straight at Mary. "I want to talk to her."

Maria sensed something was off and said, "She's new and doesn't know much yet. If you have any requirements, you can talk to me."

"Do you think I'm stupid? She worked on the Henry Group project; everyone knows that," Frank sneered. "She's so capable she landed a deal with the Henry Group. Does she think my small project isn't worth her time?"

People around them started to look over, their gazes curious.

Maria saw Frank's bad intentions and couldn't let Mary go over. She forced a smile and said, "Sorry, we have something to attend to. Excuse us."

With that, she pulled Mary to leave.

"And where do you think you're going?" Frank spoke, and his buddies immediately blocked their way.
