Chapter 406 Rejected Him

Matthew's hot breath brushed against her shoulder, planting soft kisses on her delicate skin. Her earlobes, so sensitive, couldn't handle his touch, making her shiver.

"Matthew, I can't." Mary's voice was raspy. Her body might've been giving in, but her heart was still fighting it.

To her, making love was only beautiful when their hearts were in sync.

But between her and Matthew, there was this huge gap. Touching him felt like hugging a cactus—painful and unbearable.

Matthew's breath was warm, his eyes locked onto hers. "Mary, are you really gonna make me just look at you and not touch you?"

Mary shut her eyes, her long lashes quivering. "I need some time."

Matthew just laughed coldly, flipping her over so she was beneath him. "How much time do you need? Don't forget, we're married. As my wife, it's your duty to satisfy me!"

Those words hit hard. Mary's face went pale; she had said the same thing to him once.

She never thought it would come back to haunt her.

Matthew was a bit angry, kissing her lips with a rough edge. Mary winced, wanting to pull away, but when she opened her mouth, Matthew took the chance to deepen the kiss.

The kiss was hot and intense, making it hard for Mary to breathe. Her body was already melting in his hands.

Matthew's voice was rough as he asked, "Still don't want to?"

Mary felt embarrassed. Her body was too sensitive, trembling slightly. The deep desire from her soul made it hard to speak.

Matthew just watched her, enjoying her discomfort. He was waiting for her to say she wanted it.

Mary bit her already swollen lips, her watery eyes looking at him in a daze. Her body was on fire, but her heart was cold.

Maybe he was just used to her body, and once he got bored, it would be over.

Even though she thought that, Mary still resisted.

Because the Matthew in front of her was the man she had once loved!

She said, "I'm tired."

"Fine." Matthew let out a cold laugh, got out of bed, and headed straight to the bathroom.

Mary's breathing was a bit rapid. She closed her eyes, curled up, and hugged herself.

She felt really uncomfortable. But she just didn't want to make love with Matthew.

The sound of running water went on for a while. When Matthew came out, he didn't get back into bed but left the bedroom.

After a bit, she heard the car engine start up.

Mary's long lashes trembled, and she closed her eyes.

He was gone.

The next day, Mary showed up at the studio.

Maria gave her a big hug. "Mary, you're like our studio's lucky charm!"

Mary was confused. "What happened?"

Catherine Mitchell, another designer in the studio sneered, "What else? People found out about your thing with the CEO of DK Group and started sending projects our way."

She looked at Mary mockingly. "Since you're so tight with the CEO of DK Group, why didn't you hook us up with projects earlier? Our studio would've been booming by now."

Maria glanced at her but didn't say much.

Mary then realized that at last night's party, after she left with Michael, people started speculating about her close relationship with Matthew.
