Chapter 270 Falling for Him Again?

Mary's face was blank as she said, "You didn't do anything wrong, so why should I say anything?"

Hearing this, Matthew's mood lifted a bit. Normally, she would've mocked him.

Matthew thought, 'Does she have feelings for me again?'

He reached out and pulled her close. Mary frowned. "What are you doing?"

Matthew's eyes locked on hers, and he leaned in for a kiss.

"Are you crazy?" Mary pushed him away and headed to the bedroom. She'd just given him a glass of water, and now he was acting like this?

'Is Matthew nuts?' she wondered.

Matthew stood there, stunned, his hand empty. The image of her disgusted face flashed in his mind. His lips pressed together.

'Am I overthinking this? But who cares?' he thought. As long as she was around, she'd fall for him again eventually.

He took a sip of water and slammed the glass back on the table.

Matthew's wound healed quickly. After half a month, he was almost fully recovered but still needed check-ups.

As they left the hospital and got in the car, Mary said, "You're better now. Can I leave?"

Matthew, flipping through documents, replied coldly, "Where are you going?"

"Back to Lindwood City," Mary said, thinking she'd go somewhere he couldn't find her.

Matthew looked up from his papers, a faint smile on his lips. "I don't believe you."

Mary fell silent. "Believe it or not, we agreed I'd stay until you were better."

"Am I fully recovered?" Matthew shot back.

Mary's eyes flared with anger. "Matthew, stop being unreasonable. Yes, you saved me, but I took care of you. I don't owe you. Can you let me go?"

Seeing her angry and helpless, Matthew felt a dull pain in his chest. His face remained emotionless as he stared at her. "Fine, after you make dinner tonight, you can leave."

Mary, initially furious, paused. He compromised so easily?

She stared at him, confused. Matthew returned to his documents. "If you don't agree, forget it."

"Okay!" Mary quickly agreed. She thought she was dreaming. When had he ever been so straightforward?

The car stopped at the Opulent Oasis Hotel. Matthew stayed in the car while Mary got out.

Watching the car leave, she sighed in relief and headed to the supermarket for dinner groceries. 'The last meal,' she thought, happy she'd soon be free.

She bought the groceries, sent the bill to Matthew, and after getting the money, she smiled and headed back to the hotel.

But as she passed a corner,  two people suddenly grabbed her and pulled her in. She didn't even have time to react before she quickly lost consciousness.
