Chapter 570 I Am Being Filial to You
Once Victoria finished speaking, the mood in the ward dropped to a chilling low
Mary, an outsider observing the scene, found it utterly ridiculous.
This family had always used the deceased Samuel to control Matthew.
Did they also realize that they had no way to persuade Matthew, so they resorted to such means?
Mary watched coldly.
Matthew's expression remained calm as he said in a deep, cold voice, "Grandma, don't you understand yet? Even if Samuel were alive and standing right in front of me, he wouldn't have the right to interfere in my affairs."
Upon hearing this, Victoria immediately started coughing violently, her wrinkled, aged face looking even more frail.
Richard's expression soured, "Matthew, how can you talk to Victoria like that? Can't you see she's already very weak?"
Matthew looked at him and said, "If you're afraid she'll be upset by me, then you shouldn't have called me here."
Richard was once again rendered speechless with anger.
Linda spoke gently from the side, "Alright, it is not the time for arguing. Mom, you shouldn't worry about Matthew's affairs anymore. He has his ideas. The most important thing for you now is to take good care of your health."
Victoria just looked at Matthew, her eyes moist, wanting to say something but unable to stop coughing.
Laura gently patted her chest to help her breathe.
"Matthew, Grandma Montagu isn't doing very well right now. Could you please say less?" Laura looked at Matthew with concern.
Matthew glanced at her, " Do you think you have the right to boss me around?"
"I..." Laura's expression turned pale. She hadn't expected Matthew to speak so harshly; he wasn't like this before.
Matthew glanced at the butler and the servants nearby and said coldly, "This is the Montagu family's business. What is Laura doing here?"
The butler, hearing this, instinctively looked at Richard and Linda.
Matthew sneered, "Why are you looking at them? Am I not part of the Montagu family and can't give you orders?"
Cold sweat immediately broke out on the butler's forehead. Under immense pressure, he walked over to Laura and said, "Ms. Sarah, please step aside. Mrs. Montagu has something to say to Mr. Montagu."
Laura's expression grew even more distorted. Matthew was mocking her!
She forced down her emotions and left. As she passed by Mary, she suddenly whispered, "Do you think I don't know what you've been up to? Matthew has taken care of it for me. What you want is destined to come to nothing."
With that, she smiled smugly and left the ward.
Mary lowered her eyes, her expression unchanged.
As the door to the ward closed, Matthew pulled up a chair and sat by the bedside, looking at Victoria's frail face. He said calmly, "Grandma, you should take good care of yourself. I see that you can't find peace in Lindwood City. How about I send you abroad? Find a beautiful island where you can do whatever you want."
Upon hearing this, Victoria's expression immediately soured, "What do you mean? Are you going to imprison me?"
Matthew raised an eyebrow, "How can you say that? I'm being filial to you."
