Chapter 254 It's Instinct

Mary stared at Matthew, his clothes drenched in blood. The sight made her eyes sting.

"Mary?"

Matthew, worried by her silence, touched her face with his uninjured hand.

"I'm fine, but you're bleeding. We need to get to the hospital."

Mary snapped out of it, quickly stood to support him, but her legs almost gave out from the earlier scare.

Matthew scooped her up. "Are you okay? Can you walk?"

Mary shook her head. "I'm fine. Your hand is covered in blood."

Matthew reassured her, "It's okay, don't worry."

But Mary couldn't help it. A Tibetan Mastiff had attacked him; what if it broke his bones?

Donovan rushed over, looking furious. "Why hasn't anyone dealt with that Tibetan Mastiff yet?"

"Yes, sir," the butler responded, and the dog was taken away.

Donovan turned to Matthew. "I'll take you to the hospital. You need treatment."

Matthew just looked at Mary, who, now calmer, helped him out of the villa and into the car.

Since it happened at the Johnson Mansion, Donovan went to the hospital with them.

Watching the doctor treat Matthew's wound and give him a vaccine, Mary finally felt relieved.

Matthew, shirtless, didn't flinch at the gruesome bite wound on his arm. He saw Mary's worried, pale face and felt a sense of relief.

The doctor gave brief instructions. "Don't get it wet, and change the dressing as instructed," then left.

Mary asked, "Does it hurt?"

Matthew looked at her and said, "Yes, it hurts."

Mary's heart tightened, recalling the fierce scene, and cold sweat broke out on her back.

"Are you stupid? How could you just rush in and confront a Tibetan Mastiff? What if you couldn't beat it?"

Matthew's voice was hoarse. "It's instinct."

Mary was stunned. 'Instinct? To rush in without thinking when he saw me in danger?'

She suddenly started crying, tears streaming down her face. She turned away so he wouldn't see.

Matthew panicked, grabbed her hand. "What's wrong? Why are you crying?"

Mary sobbed, trying to suppress her emotions. "Nothing. Let's go back."

Matthew stared at her, trying to read her face, but found nothing. A trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes.

"We can't leave yet," he said.

Mary asked, confused, "What else do you need to do?"

Matthew handed her his shirt. "Help me put it on."

Mary helped him with his shirt, and they walked out. Donovan was still outside. Seeing them, he said, "It's good you're okay. This was Jenny's fault. I've spoiled her too much. Matthew, don't worry, I'll make sure she gets punished."

Matthew looked at him coldly. "Then I'll go back with you. She hasn't apologized to Mary yet."
