Chapter 8: Can We Not Get Divorced?
"Can we just go on like this without getting divorced?" Mary asked again, looking into Matthew's eyes full of lust.
Her eyes were red, and tears were welling up in them.
"Mary, does this make any sense to you?" Matthew frowned deeply.
Mary blinked, holding back the tears that were about to fall, and hugged Matthew tighter.
"Matt, you are mine. We promised to be together forever," she whispered softly into his ear.
Matthew said nothing more. Mary's warm breath brushed against his ear, causing a tightness in his lower belly. He pinned Mary's hands to the wall, turned her face away from him, and entered her from behind.
It was a night of madness.
The next day, Mary was late and her pay was immediately docked. The Personnel Department said it was a direct order from Mr. Montagu.
Mary gritted her teeth and complained in her heart, Matthew is really stingy!
She had slapped him yesterday; was this his revenge?
After the morning meeting, Michael walked over to Mary and said, "This report requires field research. Go to do it."
Mary glanced at the report; it was a construction site! Her brows immediately furrowed.
Michael asked, "Do you have any questions about Mr. Montagu's arrangement?"
Mary looked at Michael, "May I?"
Michael smiled, "No."
Mary rolled her eyes and took the document into Matthew's office.
Mary pushed the door open and walked straight in. Matthew was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, talking on the phone. Hearing the sound, he turned to look and immediately frowned.
"That's it for now," he said, hanging up the phone.
"Who let you in?" he looked at Mary, his tone colder.
Mary threw the document on the table, "Did you do this on purpose?"
Matthew glanced at the document and said coldly, "Isn't this your job? You don't want to do it? Fine, give up this job. There are plenty of people waiting for this job."
Mary was furious!
Matthew did it definitely on purpose!
He was getting back at Mary for slapping him last night!
So, he tormented Mary hard last night and then sent her to the construction site today.
Seeing Mary both angry and frustrated but unable to say anything, Matthew's lips curled slightly. "Get out. Remember to knock next time."
Mary stared at Matthew, her hands suddenly pressing down on the table as she leaned closer to him. She said softly, "Fine, then you need my permission next time too."
With that, Mary took the document and left.
Matthew was speechless. He thought Mary was talking nonsense. If Mary hadn't seduced him last night, he wouldn't have touched her.
The commercial building project was Mary's responsibility, and it was under construction at the moment. Mary got out of the car, looking at the uneven road, feeling very uncomfortable.
As Mary walked on, she saw an old lady sitting on the ground not far away, her face full of confusion and helplessness.
People passed by the old lady, but no one stopped to ask about her situation, afraid of being scammed.
Mary observed the old lady's attire; her clothes were quite sophisticated, and she even wore a jade bracelet on her wrist, not like someone who would scam others.
Mary thought for a moment and walked over to ask, "Madam, are you all right?"
The old lady looked at her, and her eyes suddenly lit up, "Mary! You're Mary! I can't find my home. Can you take me home?"
Mary was stunned. The old lady did not seem quite normal, possibly suffering from dementia.
She quickly bent down and asked, "Madam, do you remember where your home is?"
The old lady immediately looked confused, "Where is my home? I don't know. Mary, help me find it. I've forgotten it."
Mary took out her phone, intending to call the police.
Seeing the phone, the old lady's eyes suddenly lit up, "Phone, phone, my phone is here!"
She pulled a string bag from her collar. Inside was a phone.
And there was also a piece of paper in the bag. Mary saw the contact number on it and felt relieved.
"Madam, are you all right ? Can you walk?" Mary asked with concern.
The old lady immediately looked aggrieved, "I can't walk, my leg hurts. Can you blow on it?"
Mary couldn't help but laugh, "I'll take you to the hospital first."
Mary called the emergency centre and the ambulance arrived quickly. In the ambulance, she called the contact number on the paper.
When the person on the other end heard about the old lady being lost and injured, they immediately said, "Thank you. We'll be there soon. Please stay with her for a while. "
Mary agreed.
At the other end, Linda Montagu ended the call with Mary and quickly dialed Matthew's number.
"Hello?"
Linda said, "Matthew, your grandmother has gone missing. She's in the hospital now. Go and check on her. I'll be there soon."
