Chapter 334 Going to the Hospital to Snatch Food

Mary shot back, "And what's that got to do with me?"

Matthew went quiet.

You could hear his breathing get heavier, even over the phone. Dude was clearly worked up.

He finally said, "Mary, we're still married, you know."

Mary let out a sarcastic laugh. "And where's it written that married folks gotta live together?"

Matthew clammed up again.

Mary's voice turned icy. "If it's not important, don't call me."

She was about to hang up but then added, "If it's about the divorce, just let me know."

Click. She hung up.

She tossed her phone aside and headed to the kitchen to check on the beef rib soup she was making.

In his cold, sterile office, the tension was thick enough to cut with a knife.

Matthew stared at the disconnected call, his face darkening.

He knew where Mary was.

But if he went to drag her back now, she'd definitely resist.

Might even make things worse between them, though their relationship was already at rock bottom.

Just then, Michael walked in. "Mr. Montagu, Ms. Griffin has been brought in."

Matthew said, "Lock her up first."

"Yes, sir." Michael nodded, sighing inwardly. Mr. Montagu would never have treated Ms. Griffin like this before. She must've really crossed a line this time.

That evening, Mary carried a food box to the hospital.

As soon as she stepped into Robert's ward, her location pinged on Matthew's phone.

He said coldly, "Head to the hospital."

In the ward, Robert leaned against the headboard, watching her set up a small table and open the food box. The smell was mouthwatering.

"Guess getting beat up wasn't for nothing," Robert joked.

Mary frowned. "Don't talk nonsense. Who wants to get beat up?"

Robert's eyes twinkled. "If getting beat up means I get your cooking every day, I'm game."

Mary's eyes flickered. "It's just a meal. If you ask, I'll cook for you. Don't say stuff like that."

Robert chuckled and picked up a spoon to sip the soup.

Just then, the door swung open.

Matthew walked in, radiating cold vibes.

Mary frowned. "What are you doing here?"

Matthew shot a cold glance at Robert and sneered, "Just checking if Mr. Williams is dead yet."

Robert's smile faded a bit. "Sorry to disappoint you."

"No worries, next time I'll hit harder. Maybe then I won't be disappointed." Matthew pulled up a chair, sat down, and started eating without a second thought.

Mary snapped, "That's not for you!"

Matthew raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you cook it for people to eat?"

"You!" Mary's face turned red with anger, wondering, 'How could Matthew be so shameless? He actually came to the hospital to steal Robert's food! No shame at all!'

Matthew clearly didn't care; he was enjoying himself.

Seeing this, Robert didn't waste any time and started eating too.

Mary had only made enough for one person, and soon it was all gone, split between Matthew and Robert.

Mary felt utterly helpless!

Matthew put down his utensils, took out a napkin, and wiped his mouth. He glanced at Mary and said, "Tastes great."

With that, he turned and left.

Mary was speechless.

She looked at Robert apologetically. "Robert, I'm sorry. I didn't know he'd come. Are you still hungry? I can go back and get more. I've got some at home."
