Chapter 219 Don't Let Her Get Away

Mary always thought she'd leave Lindenville as soon as she found her biological parents. But all she said was, "Okay."

Barbara sneered, "That's more like it." and hung up.

Mary put her phone down, pulled up her blanket, and went to sleep.

In the evening, Mary saw Barbara at the entrance of Opulent Oasis Hotel, looking anxious.

"Ms. Inome," Mary said as she walked up.

Barbara looked relieved and grabbed her hand. "What took you so long? Don't you want to know?"

Mary pulled her hand back. "Let's go inside first."

"Yeah, let's go. I booked a private room. I've wanted to try the food here forever, but with all the kids to take care of, none of you make a lot of money.."

Barbara chatted all the way in.

Inside, she was in awe of everything.

Mary stayed calm.

In the private room, Barbara eagerly grabbed the menu and started ordering.

Mary wasn't in a rush because she knew Barbara's greedy nature. If Barbara wasn't satisfied, she wouldn't spill anything.

Barbara ordered the priciest dishes, then pointed at Mary and told the waiter, "She'll pay. Make sure she doesn't skip out."

The waiter nodded, "Got it."

Barbara looked at Mary, thinking, so beautiful!

Mary had been malnourished and sickly as a kid, but she grew into her features and became a beauty.

Under the room's bright lights, Mary wore a simple white shirt and jeans. Her long hair flowed over her shoulders, giving her a gentle, serene vibe. Her delicate features and lack of makeup gave her a pure look.

Two different qualities blended perfectly in her.

It made people want to break through her calm facade at first glance.

A cunning glint flashed in Barbara's eyes.

"Mary, you're getting older. Got a boyfriend?" Barbara asked.

Mary smiled slightly. "Ms. Inome, don't even think about it. If I could smash someone's head and run away then, I can do it now."

Barbara choked, feeling a bit unhappy, but held back her temper, thinking about what was to come.

Barbara stopped talking, and Mary remained silent, filling the room with awkward tension.

Thankfully, the food arrived quickly.

Barbara's eyes lit up, and she started eating heartily. "The food here is really different, so delicious."

Mary stayed calm. "Hasn't Rebecca brought you here before?"

Barbara glanced at her and sneered. "Do you think everyone is like you, a jobless bum? Rebecca's amazing now. Her real parents are rich, and her fiancé is loaded. She's a little princess now, and you're nothing!"

To Barbara, Rebecca was like her own daughter, and she couldn't stand Mary.
