Chapter 781 Captured Three People
Mary lowered her eyes and responded softly.
After Matthew left the room, she picked up her pajamas, put them on, and then got out of bed to freshen up.
When she came out, she saw Matthew setting breakfast on the dining table.
Suspiciously, she asked, "Is this place yours too?"
Matthew nodded, "Yeah, just one of my places. It's close to the Montagu Group, so I crash here when it's too late to head home."
The apartment had a minimalist design, with no flowers or plants, making it feel quite cold and empty.
Mary sat at the dining table and picked up a spoon to eat her porridge.
Matthew asked, "Do you like it here?"
Mary replied, "It's not bad."
Matthew said, "I'll have this place put in your name later. You can stay here whenever you want."
Mary glanced at him but said nothing.
Matthew's lips curved into a faint smile. "What? Are you so touched that you don't know what to say?"
Mary was speechless.
Matthew could carry on a conversation even if she didn't give him a good response. He was quite the drama king!
After silently finishing their meal, they headed to the hotel.
When they arrived, the atmosphere in the hotel was tense and oppressive.
As the elevator doors opened, everyone turned to look at them, their faces showing displeasure.
"What does this mean? They left last night? Why were we kept here?"
"Exactly, why could they leave and we couldn't?"
"What happened? Can someone give us an update?"
The people left behind were those who attended the ball last night, mostly from wealthy and influential families. Being confined for a night had left everyone in a foul mood.
"Mary."
Shirley came down from upstairs and, seeing Mary, quickly ran over to her, asking, "What happened?"
Last night, Shirley wanted to find Mary but was told she had left. When Shirley tried to leave, she was stopped.
She then found Herman to ask what was going on.
Herman said, "I was with you all night. How would I know what happened?"
He had a point.
Shirley was even more puzzled, her intuition telling her something had happened, and it involved Mary!
She wanted to find Robert, but he had no time to see her. She tried calling Mary all night but couldn't get through. If Herman hadn't reassured her that Matthew was with Mary, she might have jumped out the window to find her!
Mary said, "Something did happen."
Shirley immediately became anxious, "What happened?"
Mary said, "Let's go find Robert first."
"Okay!"
They headed upstairs, and as one of the room doors opened, Robert came out.
His gaze fell on Mary, and he asked, "Are you alright now?"
Mary nodded, "I'm fine now. Robert, did you find out who drugged us?"
Robert nodded, "Come in."
He led them into the room, and the bodyguard at the door closed it behind them.
In the large room, three people were tied up in the center.
Mary vaguely recognized two of them. She pointed to a girl in a red dress and said, "You told me to go upstairs to rest last night."
The girl retorted, her face turning pale, "I was just trying to help because you looked unwell. You didn't have to go. I was being kind, and now you're treating me like this? How dare you!"
